September 24th, 2008: Breakfast and Dinner

Hey guys! I must be in some kind of funk because again I did not want to get out of bed this morning! I was totally rationalizing too. “Oh my legs are still sore. I should take it easy.” “I could use the sleep.” Enough! I shut myself up and got out of bed. It was chilly this morning. Last week Scott and I donated four huge trash bags of clothes to AmVets. As we were going through the clothes I saw a top that I thought might come in handy so I pulled it back out. It’s a long sleeved tee-shirt type top that is very thin, it would be totally see-through if it wasn’t blue. I thought it might make a nice top for running in the chilly mornings. I threw that on this morning and was out the door after I took care of Rocky.

It worked out so well! Kept my arms warm but wasn’t so heavy that it weighted me down. I was able to wear it my whole run. I did a short run this morning, my old route. I didn’t want to risk over taxing my legs. They are doing much better today though still a bit sore. I felt good after the run and downed my CS in no time flat! Back out the door for Rocky’s walk. We did an extra long 30 minute walk this morning. It was so nice and I may do that from now on.

Peaches and cream

I was craving a big bowl of oats this morning. I knew I wouldn’t make any if I didn’t run (if I don’t run, it’s hard to justify such a big breakfast for me) these were part of my motivation this morning! I made the typical base: 1/2 cup of quick oats in 3/4 cup of vanilla silk, pinch of salt, 1 banana mashed, and some vanilla extract and cinnamon. During the last stages of cooking I added in some sliced peaches and nectarines. 1/2 went into my bowl and I topped it with some dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and some yogurt. It was soooo good! Probably my favorite bowl of oats yet and yup that means it beats the choco oats! The peaches and nectarines made the bowl so sweet and fruity. I will definitely make this again.

Breakfast

Breakfast

Had that alongside my morning coffee. :D The coffee was a little funny today. It had some sort of weird aftertaste to it that I didn’t care for much. Hopefully it was just a fluke because Scott said it was part of a brand new bag of coffee that was just opened.

After breakfast, I fed my little birdies. They were all fluttering about getting anxious for some food. Usually when they are hungry they pace up and down the deck railing. :p Every time I try to take a pic they fly away. I’ll have to try to be more stealth.

Lunch

Lunch

Lunch was one of those times where I was hungry but unsure what to make. The things I wanted like a big salad or a wrap like yesterday, were of course things I don’t have. Instead I decided to make some grilled sandwiches. I had two slices of deli turkey with one slice of swiss on 12 grain bread. Each slice of bread had about 1/2 tsp of butter on it for grilling. I had a sliced pear on the side and that’s veggies in the middle. Carrots, celery, and cucumbers with a little wasbi dressing for dipping. I ate all of the pear, most of the sandwich leaving pieces of bread that didn’t have any filling and some of the veggies.

On our fence

On our fence

The hawk was back again. The other day as I was making dinner I heard all my little birdies pitch a fit and making so much noise. Then the hawk flew in and landed on the deck. :O I told Scott to hurry to see if he could get a pic of it. It flew off the deck and landed on our fence for a few seconds before taking off again.

Right now I’m attempting to make some apple chips. They are in the oven drying out and smell so very good. The whole house smells like apples and cinnamon. :D
