About Andrea

Hi and thanks for stopping by!  My name is Andrea and most times you can find me in the kitchen cooking up something delicious.  If I’m not in the kitchen then I’m probably reading about food and researching recipes.  Or I’m in the gym tossing around heavy things.   I’m a 30 something married to a software developer (His name is Scott) and we live in Fort Collins, Colorado.

We’re recent transplants to Colorado having just made the big move in the summer of 2012.

We moved because we wanted to see what the West and what mountain life was all about.  And we wanted access to more craft beer. True story.

We used to live in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio and called that home for many years.

Food Embrace started out as Off Her Cork back in 2008.  It was created so I could have a place to store my recipes along with documenting our journey towards cleaner eating.

“Cleaner eating” means relying less on processed, pre-made, and packaged items and cooking more from scratch.

The recipes I post are my own unless otherwise noted.  I create recipes that are easy to make along with being healthy and tasty.

My food philosophy can be summed up in three statements:

  • Eat real food.
  • Enjoy life as much as possible.
  • Beer.

I’m a certified health coach (through Integrative Nutrition) and also have my Beer Server Certification through the Cicerone Certification Program. I work in the Craft Beer Industry and am working towards getting my full Cicerone Certification along with studying Brewing Sciences.  I have big career goals along with big health goals that I’m focused on at the moment.

I am a recipe developer and would love to work with you on a project. Just drop me a note.

With our big move to Colorado, both my husband and I fell off the healthy eating train.  We are back to taking charge of our health and getting our lives back.  Much like when I first started this blog, this space is all about our healthy eating journey, what that means to us, and why we make the decisions that we do about food choices.

You can find my food philosphy here.  It’s all about embracing real foods and taking the time to nourish our bodies.

We are back to doing just that and I hope you stick around for the journey!
