High Five

5 miles.

This is my newest “long” run.  I’ve run this a few times now successfully and without any hip pain afterwards.  I don’t think I can adequately express how much this excites me.

It took a long time to get to this point again and I admit that I had my doubts at times.  I was being really negative about it, thinking that it wasn’t going to happen.

Silly, of course.  But we all do that, right?  We just have those moments where we are stuck in our own heads and get in our own way.

I broke through that though and did my five miles.  And then I did it again and now I fully feel like I’m on the road to recovery.

I feel that I’m going to be able to increase my mileage and become a runner again.

It also helps that the weather has been amazing lately.  I’m not exaggerating either, we’ve been seeing 70 and 80 degree temps.  Sunny and breezy days! For March in Ohio this is most definitely a welcome treat.

Our winter was mild, it was still dreary, gloomy, and rainy, so sun and warm weather is such a welcome change.

So warm I was able to wear capris and a t-shirt to run in.  Joy!

Have you been taking advantage of the spring weather and longer days?

  1. Congrats on your 5, Andrea! That’s awesome, and I’m so excited for you. :) Are you running Cap City 10k? I can’t remember if you definitely signed up or not.

I am LOVING the fact that the sun is up longer. Now when I get out of work at 5, I can still run and have it be nice and light outside. With the warmer weather I’m itching for the sun to go down just a little, though, so the sun isn’t blinding me as I’m running west. I’ve finally started feeling like myself again—running again—and yesterday I did a 4 mile run/walk. Woohoo!

    • Jess, I haven’t signed up for it yet but I do think I’m running it. I don’t want to miss out on that! I cannot get over this weather, it’s been amazing lately! Congrats on your four miler!
