Ah, it’s the last day of September and that means come tomorrow, when October emerges we will be in full Fall Mode! If you’ve been reading OHC for a while, then you know how much I love this time of year! Fall is by far my favorite.
It’s just a bit chilly but not batten-down-the-hatches cold. Fall has crisp mornings and cool days that beg for sweaters, hoodies, and comfy boots. It has colorful leaves, bright sunshine, and the prospect of apple picking.
There are gorgeous foods to be made and pumpkins to celebrate!
That’s right, it’s time to celebrate pumpkins!
I have loved pumpkin pie since I was a kid and yet there is more to pumpkin than just a pie once a year. I have learned through experimenting and by reading what others are doing with pumpkin, that it is versatile and can be used in so many ways!
Pumpkin can be sweet, it can be savory, and it can be used in a variety of ways to achieve different results. In order to try and do the awesome pumpkin justice, OHC is declaring October to be Pumpkin Month!
We will be talking, tasting, and discussing our way through October focusing on the pumpkin and all the glorious ways we can use it in our kitchens.
So tell me friends, do you love pumpkin too? What is your favorite way to use pumpkin?
If you have a pumpkin tip or recipe that you would like to be featured this month, email me at Andrea AT Offhercork.com so we can chat about it!
I LOVE pumpkin!! I’ve only ever used it from a can, though, so this year is my year to branch out and try it fresh.
Can’t wait for the “month of pumpkin” OHC style…….
I love love pumpkin. Anna (the dog) loves it too! I think fall is my favorite season for the colors, smells, food.
I have only tried Pumpkin pie and bread so I am excited to see how you use it!
I cannot believe tomorrow is the first day of October. This summer ended way too fast
I love pumpkin! One of my favorite ways to use pumpkin is pumpkin pancakes. Yum!
I can’t believe tomorrow is October. That’s crazy!
I have grown to love pumpkin – but not in pie I’ve never been a pumpkin pie fan!
I love it in soups, oatmeal, baked goods (especially cookies, breads, and muffins), and stirred into yogurt.
I can’t wait to see what you have in store!
I’m sure you eat pumpkin oats at time? I still haven’t tried it. It may be my October food to-do!
I’ve been putting it in my overnight oats, and mixing it with Greek yogurt and some vanilla protein powder to make a yummy high-protein dessert. I’m hoping to try it out in a smoothie next. It’s good in just about anything!
As much as I love pumpkin, I’m not a fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks.
I just recently found your blog- so nice to find one from someone who lives in my area!
I love pumpkin cookies, bread, cake, cupcakes, chili, pie, beer, cider and curry. Pumpkin is my FAVORITE!!!!
I actually don’t love pumpkin. Mostly, I think it’s because I didn’t grow up eating it.
There is one thing however that I’m hoping you’ll cover in Pumpkin Month. Years ago, I had THE most spectacular pumpkin bread. I nearly died it was so good!
If you posted a recipe for a tried and true pumpkin bread, I would love you forever!
I love pumpkins and their roasted seeds. Yum! I have 10 pie pumpkins that we grew and 2 huge sweet pumpkins from a friend that need to be roasted and pureed and froze. After that I’ll have pumpkin for the rest of the year.
I also loooove pumpkin! I like to make bread/muffins, do curries and soups with it, and my latest obsession is in my morning oats – SO good!
I picked up a few cans when I saw them at the store last week, but plan on making my own puree this year after we go pumpkin picking next weekend.
I wear my Snoopy Hallowe’en pumpkin watch all month – does that count? LOL
Going to get my pumpkins this weekend! Can’t wait to have my yearly pumpkin carving contest and to roast the seeds!
