Snack Attack

When I see outlines for prescribed eating schedules and when I see others talk about their eats, there is one thing stands out to me and that is the snack.

There’s the morning snack occurring between breakfast and lunch.  Then an afternoon snack between lunch and dinner.

Snacking seems like it might be the norm, that the majority of people do indeed snack.

Are you a snacker?

I actually am not a snacker at all.

I eat three meals a day and that’s pretty much it.  I really don’t feel the need or desire to snack.  Maybe it’s because my meals are large enough that they carry me through the day.  Maybe it’s because my body just doesn’t need snacks.  Whatever the reason, I think I might be in the minority here.

Does this mean I don’t ever have a snack? Of course not.  Being a female, I have the awesome privilege of having my appetite fluctuate throughout the month.  Sometimes I need a snack.  It happens.  If I don’t get enough produce at lunch, I’ll need a small something a few hours later because I feel empty.  Fresh fruit is key to my lunch meal, if I don’t get it, then I can feel that void big time.

On the occasion that I need that extra snack, my choice is dried fruit, nuts, or sometimes crackers with PB.  Prunes?

You know I love ’em!

All those things are favorites and are great for a little extra something if I need it.

And to be clear, I am not talking about desserts or special treats.  I’m talking about snacks between or after meals.

But for the most part, at this stage of my life, snacks aren’t really my thing.

So how about you?  Are you a snacker?  Do you need that little extra umph during the day?  Do you enjoy snacks and work them into your schedule?

  1. the photo with the prunes is priceless. i usually only have a snack between lunch and dinner. i eat lunch at noon and dinner at about 7 pm with a workout in between, so i usually need a snack! hope you’re having a fabulous day :)

A lot of people find that smaller meals more frequently (hence the two snacks) is better for them. keeps their blood sugar on a more even keel.
