It’s a short log since I’m just starting. :p But my goal is to have a weekly training log. Not sure how many are going to be interested in my weekly exercise but I like having a log someplace that I can refer to.

Fridays are normally my rest day but I was going to work out since I didn’t do anything on Monday. We still had no heat on Monday and I didn’t want to workout causing me to have to shower because that would have been chilly!
However Thursday was a pretty big exercise day for me. I ran 6 miles and conditioning class at Muay Thai was rough last week. I needed a rest so I just went with it. Because the weather turned and we started getting hit with the dreaded winter storm, I literally just bummed around the house. I had to cancel plans with two friends (sorry guys!) but it was glorious just sitting at home.
The downside to the snow was that it killed my sushi dreams. I have been craving some veggie sushi for ages and waited all week long to have it for a Friday treat. Not happening. Boo!

Usually we have MT on Saturday mornings but because of the snow class was cancelled. I slept in a bed and did two levels of shred and then Gina’s Week 3 of the shape-up. I rocked it out! I’ve been doing the shred pretty regularly now and I’ve definitely noticed a change in my strength and endurance. Even though I’m only using 5lb weights because I haven’t purchased higher weights yet, it still has an effect and I love it!
My biggest weak point is my shoulders. Doing something like a lateral raise with weights is so hard for me. Anything that works the shoulder area is difficult for me and takes me some time to build up strength there but when I do it makes me so happy! Like now I can do 40 pushups in a row. Regular pushups, not knee pushups. Last week in conditioning class I was able to out pushup Scott!
I’ll try to explain this as best that I can. In conditioning class we sometimes do partner pushups. You and your partner are facing each other in a pushup position. You go down and do a pushup and then you slap hands. Alternate hands with each pushup. Like this! The first example in this video. Just pick up the pace a bit. Anyway we had to do that for a minute and I totally outlasted Scott. Wooot! Before you go thinking, “Pfffttt whatever, just a minute. That’s nothing.” Go ahead and try doing straight pushups for a minute and tell me how that goes for you.
I’m definitely getting stronger and I can see more definition in my arms and shoulders. I’ll take a rockstar pic maybe to show off my pipes.

Oh man it took every ounce of willpower I had to get me out to run this morning. It was cold and still a ton of snow on the ground. I knew not every place would be plowed or shoveled causing me not to be able to get in a “long” run but just a regular run. I almost didn’t go out.
I worked hard lifting yesterday and then spent 1.5 hours shoveling a foot of snow out of the driveway. I wore my HRM and burned close to 400 cals doing just that. On top of the 500 I burned lifting, that’s a decent amount! I thought that I could take the day off today.
But I didn’t. I already had two rest days this week, Monday and Friday. I needed to get something in today and something is better than nothing. Like most people, I don’t ever regret a run. So I suited up and headed out. It was cold but not too bad and I was able to get a 4 mile run down.
I feel loads better having gotten that run in even if it wasn’t a long one. It was something! And that’s the important part.
