January 12th, 2010: It’s gettin’ hot in here

So take off all your clothes!

Wait, what?  Sorry!  Didn’t mean to head off on a weird tangent. ;)

However, I can tell you that temps this week are starting to warm up and it was 18degrees for my run this morning.  For serious!  I was loving life so much that I cranked out 7 miles.

And the angels sang.

I almost *almost* came home at 5 because my bellah was a bit grumbly but I punched out for 7 because my thinking was, take advantage of the warm weather while I can because this is Ohio and who knows what will happen tomorrow.  Ohio is weather schizo and I mean that in a very PC  way because I am totally PC and on the up and up.

After my cold shower, brrrr, I warmed up with the space heater and a huge bowl of oatbran.  Mmmm yummy!  I slapped Rocky’s coat on him, put on my new and stylish army jacket and we were out the door for a walky.  It was even warmer than before, amazing!  It was a very pleasant walk.

I was starving for lunch which was the same old same old.  Smoothie today contained yogurt for extra punch:

  • 1C Carrot Juice
  • 1C Unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1C Water
  • Spinach (jam packed)
  • 3 cubes of frozen yogurt
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen peaches

There was the addition of a chick’n patty with lunch today for some extra protein and cals.

I worked it hard at muay thai this evening and when I was done my body was like, “Whoa sister that’s a lot of shit we did today.  How about we eat some grub ASAP?”  My legs are a bit “tired”.  Wondering what a run will be like tomorrow?  Short is probably the best answer.

Fish Tuesday twisted up!

Orange Roughy thanks to Kroger, these were big honkin’ fillets too!  The sauce was:

  • Toasted sesame oil
  • Olive oil
  • Honey
  • Soy sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Curry powder
  • Sea Salt

On the side was some roasted asparagus and roasted chick peas!  I have been craving beans like crazy and since I need more protein today due to intense workout, chick peas were a good call!  The topping for those were:

  • Soy sauce
  • Olive oil
  • Curry powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Cayenne pepper

The asparagus was pretty standard:

  • Olive oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Garlic rosemary blend

But today I also added in some thinly sliced shallots to mix it up a little bit.

Brown jasmine rice on the side which also had soy sauce and garlic powder mixed in for some bump up.

I loaded my plate up!  Gimme some food!  The seasoning for the fish was really perfect.  Curry and toasted sesame can be a bit overpowering but it worked out amazingly well with the roughy.  Definitely a keeper for the books!

I’m off to watch some hockey and rest my bones.  I may have a snack later since I burned so many cals today and because my belly still feels a bit empty.  Tomorrow pumpkins!

  1. Your dinner looks so tasty!

Way to pump out the 7-miler. I think it is sad that we think these temps are warm, but they are… comparatively!

High of 35 here this week. WHOA!

  2. Congrats on a 7 miler! That is hard core for sure ;)

And how do you cook your chickpeas? I bought a bag of dried ones, but have no clue what to do with them!
