September 16th, 2009: sniffles

Hi guys!  Last night after posting I started feeling like I was getting a stuffy nose. :(  I took some Emergen-C and put myself to bed. I read a while (rereading The Poisonwood Bible – fave!) then crashed out.  I got up a lot during the night which definitely means something was going on.  I got up this morning at 6:30 and had every intention of pushing out 4-4.5 miles.  However I was still a bit stuffy and my eyes were itchy.  Itchy eyes are a sure sign of cold like issues for me.  I decided to not run and give my bod some down time.

Instead I went into the office and started work.  I’m starting a brand new project and wanted to get some headway done today.  Around 9ish, it was time to wake Scott up and get some breakfast.

Two worlds collide!

Coffee and oats

Presenting Pumpkin and Nectarine oats!  Crazah!  I have to say this bowl of oats was amazing.  It was sweet and creamy and oh so filling.  Loved it!  And I licked the bowl clean when I was done. :D  With the standard coffee to wash it down with.  I checked some blogs and did bloggy stuff and then I took Rocky out for a glorious walk.  We are having the best weather!  It was a bit breezy but nothing we couldn’t handle.  After just over a mile, we headed back home.

I did some more work (this is a really boring day! :p) and then asked Scott if he was hungry because I was not.  He said he wasn’t either but we both agreed that we could use a smoothie.

Smoothie

Smoothie!

  • 1C SO Delicious coconut milk (last of the container)
  • 1C OJ
  • 1C US Cranberry juice
  • Kale
  • 1 small beet
  • 1 carrot
  • 2 figs
  • 2 prunes
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen blackberries
  • Frozen peaches

Totally jam packed and gritty, but delicious!

My digestive tract has been off since the weekend.  I don’t know if I didn’t get enough raw fruits and veg or what but I really am tired of the bloaty.  Bring back my nice non-bloaty bellah!  I’m trying to get things back on track again but upping the fruits and veg.  I know some people say a lot of fruits and veggies make them feel bloaty because of the fiber.  It has the opposite effect for me, it helps me feel not bloaty and ugh.

After the smoothie, I wanted some nibbles while I went back to work.

Grapes, crackers, and PB

Frozen grapes and some kashi crackers with PB.  All the grapes were mine and a few crackers.  I gave the rest of the crackers to Scott.

Those are some damn powerful oats because they seriously held my hunger at bay for ever!  I need to remember this the next time I need a breakfast that will hold me over for hours.  Perhaps before my SanFran flight?  Hrmmm

Worky, worky, worky.  And finally around 4pm I started getting hungry.  I had no idea what I wanted for dinner though!  Something fast and easy.  I pulled a Lauren and made breakfast for dinner tonight. :D

Veggie fritatta

Veggie fritatta made with egg whites and two eggs:

  • Onion
  • Green pepper
  • Carrot
  • Tomato
  • Artichoke
  • Spinach

Topped with fabbo cheddar.

Soy sausage patty, English Muffin

Ezeke English muffin (starting to become my fave) and some Morningstar sausage patty.

Pineapple and strawberries

Pineapple and Strawberries (for Scotts).

Eggs, english muffin, sausage, and fruit

YUMlicious!

And now sadly, I’m still at home and no SF tonight.  Both Scott and I have a bit more work to do (exciting!).  Then I’m making some tea and craweling in bed.  I feel loads better and I wish to keep it that way.  I need to bust out a run tomorrow AM! :D

  1. Ina says:

Pumpkin and Nectarine oats? Details…I need details! That smoothie sounds delicious, too. I have some So Delicious coconut milk in my fridge, but not sure about all the other ingredients. They sure do sound like they’d be good for the sniffles. I hope you feel better!
