September 12th, 2009: I’m Taken

Hi gang!  This will probably be a super short post because while we’ve done a lot today, writing it out doesn’t sound like all that much.

Rocky was having no form of sleeping in this morning so I got my butt up at 7am.  It was actually good because it gave me a chance to do some emails and work on blog stuff.  I poured myself a sad cup of coffee.

Coffee

We were super desperately low on creamer, so I saved what we had for Scott and used some SO Delicious coconut milk in my coffee.  It works better than soymilk but it still wasn’t all that great even after adding some cane sugar.  Coffee was just meh this morning.

I worked on yesterday’s post and started formulating out my restaurant review post.  Scott was up by this point so I made us some breakfast!OJ and oats

We had a lot to do after MT class today, so we needed a filling breakfast that would also go the distance.  I have found that pumpkin is great for that!  The added fiber and protein to the oats help keep me full, satisfied, and energized for an extended period of time.  I also finally found some unsweetened coconut at WF the other day when we were there.  I put that along with some crushed walnuts on the pumpkin oats today.  Outstanding!  The coconut is fantastic and I don’t think I could ever go back to sweetened coconut again.  The sweetened that I have left will need to get used up somehow!  With a little bit of OJ on the side for some juice action.

We hit MT and worked our hineys off.  Then it was out to run some errands and go through Meijer as quickly as possible.  Well, I got sucked into the produce section today, checking out all their sales and new items to try out.  Plus, for a Saturday, there wasn’t too many people around.  This is the one upside to OSU football (sorry, not an OSU fan; I don’t watch college or pro football) is that it makes everyone scarce on the weekends and shopping becomes a breeze!

Anyway, listen friends, you are never going to believe what happened to me today while perusing the produce.  I got hit on!

I know totally crazy!

And I had to laugh because I’m straight outta MT class, so you know, yoga pants, sweaty shirt, no make-up and basically not working the HAWTness at all.  Anyway, this dude had started conversations with me here and there.  And then after a while he just came straight on over to me and asked me if I was single. :p  At least he was straightforward and didn’t try any silly pickup lines, unless you consider, “Do you cook greens a lot?” as a pickup line.  Well maybe it was, I was holding some kale at that point.  Anyway, I told him I was married and he said, “No harm in asking.”  Too much!

Scott got a kick out of it.  He’s not one to act all jealous or possesive or anything like that.  Unless some dude tried to get touch-feely and then said dude would have to deal with The ThaIrish Thunder that would erupt as a result of his poor behavior.  ;)

Once we got home and sat down to eat “lunch”, it was flipping 4:30 in the afternoon.  Dang!  Talk about a day just slipping away!  Gotta give props to the oats for lasting as long as they did!  So here’s what I just tossed together for a quick “lunch”:

Smoothie, veggies, crackers, and fruit

Smoothie:

1C Carrot juice

  • 1C US cranberry juice
  • .5C Pomegranate blueberry juice
  • Kale
  • Spinach
  • Parsley
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Frozen peaches

Delicious!  And on my snack plate are some:

  • Carrot
  • Cucumber
  • Leftover salmon
  • Leftover crabcake

Sneak peek of Friday’s dinner! :D  In the middle is a new to me fruit, a minneola!  The description Meijer had was that it was super sweet.  It’s slightly larger than a tangerine but smaller than a naval orange.  It’s actually not too sweet.  When I cut it open, I thought it had a sort of lemon smell to it.  It was sweet and tart. making it fantastic!  Not a bitter tart like grapefruit, but like a lemon or lime tart with the sweetness of an orange to sort of balance everything out.  And those babies gave off a lot of juice as well!

And then on the side are some bread and Kashi crackers with some sundried tomato and basil cream cheese.  A new flavor, and in all honesty it wasn’t too bad.

I picked at my little snack plate and then fed Rocky dinner.  A lovely hot shower later and now I’m kicking it in my jammies.  I’m pretty sure there will be dinner at some point and I know for shizzle there is some chocolate zucchini bread in my future!  I just don’t know when that will be.  In the meantime, we’re working on the spare bedrooms trying to get those organized and cleaned up!  Till tomorrow my lovies, have a excellent Saturday!

  1. Haha you go girl! Sometimes its good that these things happen, it’s good to keep our men on their toes and show them that we still got it going on! :)

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend, you hot mamma you! ;)

  2. I love the produce action story. Even if it is kind of strange, it had to make you feel good, no? I’d hit on you. Especially if you were wearing your Old Navy Mariners shirt, and then we could go to your place for smoothies and salads. Yeah baby…

  3. Niiiice work :D Nothin like a good ol pick up in a grocery store (esp a respectful one, rare!) to perk up the confidence! Good thing Scott was quick on his feet with the whole marriage deal ;D

  4. Admittedly, there is something flattering about someone hitting on you, even when you’re taken. Did you have your ring on? I swear, I think I was hit on more when I was married than not.
