August 26th, 2009: Discoveries

Hello my pretty ones! Listen, I am so sorry for being MIA yesterday.  I got a work tape in that once I found my motivation, I didn’t want to stop, I just wanted to keep going and get it done.  It was a bioengineering subject matter and it seriously tested my google-fu skills.  I will say that most of my spellings were right the first time. I discovered that I am bio smart! GO ME!

Actually a little trivia, in college I used to be a bio major but changed because all the chemistry made me want to rip my head off.  I hate chemistry and have no desire to mess around with acid that could eat through my hand, thank you.  I still love bio stuff and learning about cells and systems and how our bodies work.

Yesterday was a quick run for me, 2.5 miles that I busted out in 26 minutes. Awesome!  I drank some CS and headed out with Rocks.  I have been seeing people start walking along the side of this one house in the subdivision behind ours.  But it had been infrequent enough that I assumed they were the people that maybe lived at that house.  Yesterday I saw two runners go run that way and I thought, okay something has to be down there.

I decided to go see what it was all about and I discovered a walking trail! :o  It actually meets up with the rails to trails trail that I do my long runs on.  OH MY GOODNESS!  A trail right in my ‘hood, this is awesome news!  I was so excited I could barely stand it.  Now I have easy access to that trail for my longer runs.  :woohoo:

Once back home, I did a quick stretch and then took a glorious shower.  Then it was time for some wonderful oaty oats!

coffee and oats

Let’s kick it back to summertime with peach and nectarine oats!  I loaded up on them during my last grocery trip so you can expect to see this a lot once again.

After breakfast, I did some officey stuff and then finally got down to business and started my tape.  I took a quick break for lunch before I ate my headset.  Yesterday I would be fine and then BAM starving.  So strange especially since I only did a shorty run.

Salad

Salsa salad!

  • Mixed greens
  • Red onion
  • Cucumber
  • Shredded carrot and parsnip
  • Salsa!!
  • And some flax chips

I bought a big bag of the FoodShouldTasteGood flax tortilla chips and they are noticeably different than what I used to get in the smaller bags.  These are thinner, less nutty great taste, and they seem more processed. I’m a little bummed out because they were my fave chips.  I wonder if they are starting to grow and get more recognized and so now they are a bit more processed?

Smoothie

Smoothie!

  • 1C US cranberry juice
  • 1C carrot juice
  • 1C water
  • Kale
  • Cucumber nub
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen blueberries

Delish!

Pineapple

Pineapple for some fruit love.

Salad, smoothie, and fruit

Lunch was fantastic!  My salad wasn’t quite as fabbo as past salsa salads for some reason but still pretty tasty.

I cleaned up the kitchen and also made dinner.  That way I could keep working later and work while it heated up. :)

I worky worked after lunch and stopped around 5:30ish.  Scott and I chilled for dinner.

Enchilada

Where I discovered pumpkin makes a nice enchilada sauce.  Oh Yeah!  Veggie enchiladas with spicy pumpkin sauce on top.  Sound good?  It was! Although I should have made more sauce!

Filling:

  • Green pepper
  • Carrot
  • Broccoli
  • Spinach
  • Brown jasmine rice (leftovers from Fish Tuesday)
  • Black beans

YUM!  I ate my portion with a bit of guacamole, mmmmm.  And then had two more bites and I was full up!

Enchilada

I realize my portion looks so wee, but it’s the plate.  I used a gigantic plate which causes the portion size to be a bit skewed. Trust me, my portion was perfect Andrea size. :D

After dinner Scott and I decided on how to approach the evening.  We had stuff to get done which included some work and office organization things.  Which meant that sadly we had to miss SF class.

One of the things I needed was a new basic computer desk for my work computer.  It’s going to have it’s own section in the office.  This will help with organization space and also with tax time.  Because when you work from home, the easier it is to say, “this is a work space and only a work space” the easier taxes are to figure out. :D

We found some great things at Target!  A nice but super basic computer desk on sale for $75 bucks, not bad! Plus some sweet lambs, a clock, and curtains for the office.  I also found some towels on clearance for $4, oh yeah!

And for those that drink Silk soymilk, I discovered that Target has the cheapest price for it at under $3 (seriously like $2.30 or something)a half gallon.  And a box of two is $4 something!

When we got back home, I literally went straight to bed.  I was in bed before 9pm and out like a light at 10:30.  Wooo!
