July 3rd, 2009: Shop till you drop

Hi guys!  I woke up before 7am today.  What a way to start a vacation right? ;)  I putzed around the house reading blogs and working on last night’s recap.  Then it was time to get Scott up and get our day started!  First oder of business….

First Watch Menu

…was breakfast!  I almost decided against going out to breakfast this morning.  I thought about last night’s super crappy meal and thought my body would want a day of rest and simple food.  But then I reminded myself that we only go out to breakfast for special occasions and I should take advantage of the opportunity.  Plus First Watch, while yes, it is a chain, does have pretty great food.  And lots of veggies and fruit around! I wasn’t going to let last night ruin today, you dig?

Coffee

We started off with some coffee. Oh it was so tasty especially since I had been waiting for over 3 hours for a sip! Because I was waiting on Scott to get up and get ready, not because the service was slow. I don’t want any confusion. :p

Sausage, eggs, and a waffle

Scott got the trifecta with turkey sausage which is my usual choice (sub fruit for meat).

Omlette, potatoes, and an english muffin

Today I went with the veg’d out omelette taking out the mushrooms and adding in spinach and avocado.  Total veggies were:

  • Onion
  • Green pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Avocado
  • Spinach
  • Tomato

With a bit of cheese on top.  I also got the English muffin without butter.  I topped it with some Cholula and chowed down.

Fruit salad

I also ordered a fruit bowl on the side.  It had:

  • Banana
  • Green apple
  • Strawberries (went to Scott)
  • Pineapple
  • Cantaloupe
  • Watermelon

I had 1/2 the omtlette, a good bit of potatoes, and just a bite of the muffin.  I also had a few bites of Scott’s waffle and most of the fruit.  YUM!  I was fueling up because we had a marathon day of shopping.

You all know I need to seriously buy clothes because I don’t fit in mine any longer.  My body has decided on a weight it’s comfortable at and that means it is time to replenish the wardrobe.  I knew that being a holiday, all the stores would be having crazy sales.  First stop was Old Navy where I walked away with a crap ton of clothes.  I’m so excited I can’t even tell you!  First there were $9 capris.  Hell yeah!  All kinds from jean, to cargo, to dressy, to light weight material.    I also got some very sweet t-shirts for $10!

But the best purchase of all?  Three fricking pairs of jeans!  They have a new jean design out called The Dreamer and guys these are the best pair of jeans ever! You must run out and try some for yourself.  They are comfortable, flattering, and no silly low rise business.  AND there is no gap in the back/butt area!  I am totally not kidding.  I loved them so much and they fit so well that’s why I got three pairs.  I even wrote to Old Navy and told them how much I love the jeans.  I think they should add it into their regular jean line.

Seriously these are some kick ass jeans.

Then we hit up Target where I got some workout stuff and a few more t-shirts.  Across the street and over to Kohl’s!  I got more t-shirts and Scott got some really great things over there including 3 pairs of jeans for himself.

Last stop was Sam’s for some produce and anniversary eats.  Finally home! Whew!

Guacamole and chips

I was starving by this point so I made a quick and dirty guac while dinner cooked.  Multigrain flax chips on the side for me.

I bought some flounder yesterday at WF and it started to thaw on the way home. No biggie, I just made it for dinner tonight.  Which worked out because baking fish and roasting some asparagus makes for a great quick dinner.

Flounder and roasted asparagus

I had 1/2 a fliet which had hot sauce, teriyaki sauce, and some spices mixed together.  Then the asparagus which was olive oil, soy sauce, salt and garlic powder.  YUM!

Now it’s wine and TV time with the hunnies.  Catch you all later and I hope you’re having a fabbo holiday weekend!

  1. That fruit bowl looks great! I love when restaurants have a variety of fruit, and not just cantaloupe + honeydew.

Yay for jean shopping success! I have such a ridiculously hard time finding jeans (and they ALWAYS have to be hemmed. I’m 4’11, haha!). It’s so nice when you get a good pair!
