July 14th, 2009: Tantrums

Hi guys!  Do you want to hear about my exciting evening? Okay here goes!  Last night we left SF a little late and after we walked Rocks, it was after 10pm, pushing 10:30.  I put on my jammies, washed my face and then crawled into bed and chatted with Scott while listening to boxer snores in the background.  Then it was 11:10 and past my bedtime so I called it a night.

I know how jealous you are of the OHC night life right now. ;)

I did sleep in a bit this morning and got up close to 7:30am.  I took care of Rocks and then changed into running clothes.  Another cool morning today so running skirts were out.  I did 3.5 miles at a crazy slow pace, 11:25/mile or something. Slooowwww but my knee didn’t bother me at all! YaY!

Chocolate soymilk

I had a bit of CS and took Rocky for his morning walk.  I stretched and then had a glorious morning shower.  Because I got started on my day late, by the time I was eating breakfast it was later than I usually eat so I kept it simple.

Coffee and yogurt

Yogurt mess and coffee.

  • 2% Fage
  • Frozen raspberries
  • Sliced banana
  • Cranberries
  • Chocolate granola

It was delish and very filling as I couldn’t even finish that bowl.  I did some bloggy things and office work for the longest time because that breakfast held me over really well! I was surprised since normally yogurt + granola, while yummy doesn’t last too long in my bellah. Which is why I will eat that if it’s a late morning because I’ll still be hungry for lunch and it won’t throw off my schedule too much.

Today however, it held me over very well! A later lunch on Tuesday isn’t a big deal since we have MT late afternoon and we eat dinner after class. Today’s lunch was a bit different! Since I wasn’t super hungry, I wanted a more snack type of lunch and to be able to pick at things.

Broccoli, carrots, cucumber, crackers

I made a snack plate:

  • Kashi roasted veggie crackers
  • 365 wheat crackers
  • Cucumber
  • Carrot
  • Broccoli

To dip into some hummus. Smoothies almost were a no show today because I thought it might be too much food.  But someone pitched a tantrum that would rival that of a seasoned tantrum throwing 2 year old.

Scott

And it wasn’t me.

Smoothie

I obliged and made us some smoothies. :D  I gave the new blender another chance today taking the speed to the highest level it has, “Icy Drink”.  I know, right?  It did better but not the best.

  • 1.5C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • .5C POM
  • 1C water
  • Spinach
  • Shredded carrot, parsnip, zucchini
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Frozen blueberries

A bit of a twist today! I had shredded a bunch of veggies already for salads this week and since we didn’t have a salad today, I decided to use what would have gone on a salad in the smoothie. It worked out really well!

Cherries, watermelon, and cantaloupe

Fruit!

  • Cherries
  • Cantaloupe
  • Watermelon

Fruit, hummus, veggies, and crackers

Fabbo lunch! I missed hummus so it tasted particularly amazing today. And I loved that I could just pick at whatever I wanted and take my time eating.  I’m a snacker at heart and love to be able pick and munch on stuff.

Motivation

Here’s the deal, my excitment and motivation for running is going down the tubes! Meh. :/ Let me rephrase: I still love running and getting out the door. But I’m not jumping out of bed to run like I used to and I’m not concerned at all about building my miles back up.  I officially signed up for a 1/2 in October hoping that helps sparks some motivation.  And I have my 4miler race at the end of this month.  I need some freaking motivation to get my butt out the door and building my miles back up!  Anyone running a race or gearing up for something? Even if you’re not running, but participating in some event, wanna be motivation buddies? :D

  1. You love the night life…you love to boogie.

This is hard cuz you’re one of my motivators. :-) How about running in water like I do? Or taking on a new cardio, like biking or something like that? I know that I am getting bored with swimming, so I am trying to motivate. I need something besides the scale to motivate.

  2. I can try to motivate you! :) I am running my first half in Oct here in Columbus, too! I am doing a 10K this weekend and am just coming off an injury, so my motivation isn’t what it used to be either.

  3. Aww, I wouldn’t worry one bit. I think every runner goes through a little runner’s slump every now and then. You are right, you probably just need the excitement of another race to get you reved up again. I’m sure your injury doesn’t help either, running in pain = NO FUN!

Keep your head held high because no matter how much or little you run, you have accomplished so much and have great things to be proud of!!! :)

Hope you had a lovely day hun!

  4. I can try! my first marathon is in november and I am patiently cross training and running only once or twice a week.

keep up with cross training, it can help you from getting blah with runs.
