June 4th, 2009: Old Lady Crawl

Hi guys! Last night after SF class both Scott and I were hungry.  I was hungry and had cravings.  I wanted cheese, wine, and a little bit of salty crunchy goodies.  So I put out this:

  • A small glass of red wine
  • Potato&Chive FoodShouldTasteGood chips
  • Lime FSTG chips
  • Jalapeno chips (for Scott)
  • Salsa
  • Two kinds of sheeps milk cheese

I had two slices of cheese, and a few chips, some with salsa and some plain.  Yum yum!  totally hit the spot and I didn’t need a whole bunch to satisfy my craving so it all worked out with Scott eating the majority of what was there.  We watched some TV and then I headed up to bed where I promptly crashed out.

We’ve been having really cold weather in these parts.  Cold as in, I’m regretting packing up the heating blanket for the winter.  Brrrr!  It was mighty chilly when I woke up this morning.  I took care of Rocks and had myself some coffee.

wake-up call

It was all I could think about, I woke up from a really deep sleep this morning and was feeling a bit groggy.  I hate that fog-head feeling because I feel so disconnected from everything.  Thankfully it doesn’t take me long to bounce out of that!  I got Scott up and headed into the kitchen for some breakfast.  I wanted oats but didn’t really feel like oats.  I know that probably doesn’t make any sense at all but that’s how I was this morning.

I ended up making some pretty basic oats with cranberries and cashew butter as mix-ins.  I had another splash of coffee with breakfast. Coffee sounds so good, I could use one now! :p

Wow do I have the writing blahs today or what?  Lordy, sorry guys!  My get-up-and-go has totally went!  Okay so after breakfast I went through and half cleaned the house.  Meaning I wiped down all the bathrooms and the kitchen.  I also finally removed some gunk from the counter backsplash type deal in the kitchen and the half bath.  It took me forever to get that removed!  It looked like tape marks that left sticky gunk behind.  No clue why tape would be on this stuff but I thought, “Hey wonder if a magic eraser would work?”  And the answer is that yes it does!  Tape gunk be gone! *clapclap*

Then I took Rocks out for a short walk.  Short because mom was having trouble keeping up.  We’ve been doing a lot of throws and takedowns in SF lately and it has caused my lower back to be a bit sore.  Then my leg was acting up during the walk so I didn’t want to push myself too hard with a super long walk.  I felt like I was doing some sort of old lady crawl down the sidewalk.  Luckily I didn’t run into anyone or else I would have had to chat their ear off about all my ailments.

Back home and time to stuff my face with some lunch!  And I wanted a salad in a big way.

Salad

Hooray!

  • Mixed greens
  • Shredded carrot
  • Shredded golden beet
  • Leftover salmon (from Tuesday)
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Raisins

Topped with red wine vinegar and oil

Sushi vegan roll

Sushi vegan roll!

Fruit salad

Fruit!

  • Cantaloupe
  • Blackberries
  • Strawberries (for Scott)

Salad, sushi, fruit

Loved this lunch!  I only had two pieces of sushi, ate all my salad, and made a huge dent in the fruit.  Filling and refreshing.  Salads at lunch are my most favorite thing.  I enjoy salads at dinner but not nearly as much.  Unless I’m out at a restaurant, then I love salads at dinner.  And yes, I realize how odd that sounds.  I looovveeee getting a small house salad at restaurnts though, it’s so fun!

Speaking of restaurants, I’ve got a hot ‘n heavy date tomorrow and I’m pretty stoked about it.  Hopefully the weather is nice and I can wear a dress!

Now more pressing matters, I’m totally undecided on what to make for dinner this evening.  Too many things sound good!

  • Finger foods sound good
  • Risotto sounds good
  • Udon noodles sound good
  • Pizza pizza sounds good
  • Calzones sound good……

No idea which route I want to go!

  1. I know what you mean about wanting oats but not feeling like oats…such a conundrum.

Beautiful lunch! I definitely need to experiment in the salad department!

I wish I had as many dinner options as you, I think pizza sounds pretty good, honestly :)
