May 23rd, 2009: Relax! Jump to it!

Hi gang!  Last night Scott and I busted out two episodes of Lost and hung out on the couch.  While watching TV both of us felt like a wee snack and decided on this:

Mmm creamy goodness

Mmm creamy goodness

Some chocolate frozen yogurt and chocolate sprinkles.  Mmmmm  After the shows, I headed up to bed for some much needed rest.

It was pleasantly cool this morning while I was out with Rocks for his morning constitutional.  I thought that maybe today wouldn’t be so hot, but Mo’ Nature would prove me wrong later.  I poured some coffee and headed into the office for a bit.

I read some blogs, checked mail and all that happy stuff.  Then I packed it up and headed into the TV room only to discover that FoodTV had nothing going on (Tyler and Aida don’t do it for me).  I switched over to HGTV and watched as a couple, who must have had a tremendous amount of money burning holes in their pockets, relandscape their 5 acre plot.  I walked away with knowing it took 23,000 gallons of water to fill their pool and they put down some super crazy amount of square footage in sod. :O

Then I needed to figure out breakfast.  I was hungry but not super hungry and I didn’t really feel like oatbran.  I finally made a decision.

Back to basics

Oatbran. :p  We had errands to run after MT class today and I needed something that was going to have some staying power.  I kept it very simple with breakfast this morning, regular oatbran and the only mix-in was a small scoop of vanilla almond butter.  However, this didn’t last me at all!  Not even halfway through MT class I was already hungry again.  By the time we finished running errands I was starving.

When we got back home, it was time for a super quick lunch.  I just needed to get something in my bellah!

Salad and in the middle was some dried mango. You can see Scott was not on the salad train this afternoon. :D My salad had:

  • Mixed greens
  • Cabbage
  • Green pepper
  • Banana pepper
  • Sliced almonds
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Raisins

Topped with a small amount of yogurt Caesar dressing.  I scarfed down my lunch, put away things we picked up at the market today and headed up for a shower.  Finally it was time for the rest of my lunch!

A smoothie!  That small salad was in no way going to fill me up or keep me satisfied and I knew that.  I just needed to calm my bod down and feed it a little.  Plus I need fruit!  I must have fruit with lunch or else I feel a little off balance.  This smoothie was awesome today!

  • 2C vanilla soymilk
  • .5C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • .5C water
  • Huge bunch of kale
  • 1 carrot
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen blueberries

Mmmm so yummy! Be advised if you use this combo, the cranberry juice will make the soymilk look like it curdled.  However, everything is fine and while at first it doesn’t look pretty it blends nicely and the taste is fabbo.

Not like the old

I also snacked on a few PB Puffins!  Which for some reason tasted a bit odd this time around and not quite like Puffins of past.  Scott and I lazed on the couch playing some Lego Batman.  And eventually I needed to have some dinner.  I stayed lazy and heated up leftovers.

Second verse, same as the first

The only difference being no moz cheese on top of the open face sam this time around.  I almost cleared my whole plate as well.  Dinner was perfect and totally hit the spot.

Now it’s time for more lazing around and there is also some red calling out my name.  And perhaps some chocolate?  Oooo the excitment never stops around the HQ. ;)

Check out Mara’s post! She and her dad made some very cool Food Blogger charms!  I love the laptop one!
