May 10th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch (Happy Mom’s day!)

Hi guys!  I woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning at 7am.  Okay, I wish!  I woke up is about all I can say on that subject matter.  I had planned on going running today.  It’s officially been over a week since I’ve last ran, my leg feels fine, time to bust out!

Except when I took Rocky out this morning, it was cold.  No really, in the 40s, cold for a May morning.  Drat!  I am beyond over running in the cold.  We’ve discussed this, right?  So I decided that I wasn’t going to.  Whatever, what’s another day not running?  I’ll run Tuesday and start the week off right.

So I headed into the office and got busy with blog work.  I finished Recap Part II and put it in the drafts folder for Scott to proof it before being published.  By this point my body was very dramatically telling me that it was hungry and can we please get some coffee up in ‘ere already. Dang.

Good lord, I couldn’t take all the melodrama anymore so I obliged.

There was more free coffee along with some yogurt and granola and cranberries.  I had a much needed coffee break while eating breakfast and reading some blogs.  After my food settled I finally decided to get out for a flipping run already.  I couldn’t stand sitting on my behind anymore.  It was sunny out so it had to have gotten warmer.

Okay not really but it was sunny and I was thankful for deciding to wear my running hat.  I also gave my Mizano technical shirt another chance and it had a big fat fail. Now I know what my first review is going to be.

I wasn’t into my run too long when my knee started hurting me again.  Damnit!  The exact same spot when it happened during the half.  It is in the back of my leg, right where the calf area starts and a bit up the back of my knee.  The majority of the pain/tightness is where the calf starts at the top and then it radiates up my leg into the back of my knee (going up towards the hamstring area). Don’t hate on the jammie pants.

MEH.

Any ideas what this could be?

I cut my run short by .5 miles and did 3 miles.  I didn’t want to risk another week off exercise or further injury.  Once home I slammed a small glass of CS and then hit the foam roller. Apparently I forgot to take a picture of it.  Oops!  But it was wonderful and a very welcome drink!  After all of that and stretching, I hit the showers and then woke up Scotts.  I came downstairs to have another glass of coffee.

Round 2

Round 2

Mmmmm and do more bloggy things, emails, and work related things.  Then I finally got up to make brunch.  Today’s brunch was fruit and veggie bountiful.

Fresh

Fresh

A big bowl of fruit filled with:

  • Cantaloupe (it’s on the bottom)
  • Huge orange
  • Blackberries
  • Strawberries (for Scott)
Crunchy

A salad with:

  • Mixed greens
  • Cucumbers
  • Carrot
  • Broccoli
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds

Dressed with Newman’s light sundried tomato.

Pretty

Fritatta!  Chopped spinach and sundried tomatoes (I picked up at WF) that I sauteed for a second it a small splash of olive oil.  Then I added four beaten eggs and plopped in the 400 degree oven till it was cooked.  Turned the oven off and topped with some goat cheese.  So good!  I have an inappropriate love for sundried tomatoes.  They are so chewy and sweet that they make anything taste better.  Love them in salads and on pizza too!

The whole shabang with some OJ on the side.

Plans for the day include laundry (ew) and hitting up the park with Rocks.  And hopefully we can grill this evening for dinner!

Cut off piggies

Cut off piggies

Because I’m not done showing you my body parts yet, here’s my foots minus the toes because I already think feet are icky enough so I’m sparing you my piggies.  Remember when I said my shin guard was sitting on my ankle/foot funny?  Now I’m sporting a nice bruise in the area.  I try to avoid it, but with two martial arts, I’m constantly bruised up somewhere.  Perhaps it makes me look badass? ;)

So far my knee is doing okay and it doesn’t hurt to walk or anything but it is tight in that spot. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Happy Moms day to all!  Because it doesn’t matter whether your kids have two legs or four, you’re a mama!

  1. Stop fallin apart on me! I’m sorry about your leg pain, I honestly have no idea what that could be!! :(

And I’m with ya – it was cold this mornign! I let Lando out and was like YIKES!

  2. For what it’s worth, I’ve been seeing a chiropracter for a few months and it’s made a huge difference in how I feel. When my knee starts to act up, he adjusts it in my next session and it feels better. Also, when my ankles swell, he does an adjustment and it goes away — it’s not just for back issues.
