Friday, May 15th, 2009: Andrea’s night in

Hi lovies!  Let’s talk about the day!  I had a lovely time sleeping.  In bed by 10pm and up at 7:30am, oh yeah!  I figured I would be famished this morning when I woke up but that totally is not the case.  I took care of Rocks and then had some coffee in the office.

I checked in on some bloggy and worky things while sipping the Joe.  Then I headed upstairs to wake Scotty and take a shower.  Ooooo that shower was a better wake up than the coffee!

Breakfast was oatbran today because I’ve been missing it.

Basic oatbran:

  • 1/3C oatbran
  • 1 1/3C vanilla soymilk
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1TBSP of ground flax
  • 1 small scoop of protein powder

Mix-ins were cranberries, blueberry granola, and a huge scoop of crack, AKA vanilla almond butter.  I have been sucking down the water like crazy today.  I don’t think I had enough yesterday and was very dehydrated.  I did not want a repeat of that today, especially since I plan on a drinky this evening.

While it was still early morning, I took Rocky love for his walk.  There’s a house on the corner (which happens to be the corner of a busy road) and they leave their dogs outside.  There seems to be a new addition and I’m not sure if they have someone staying with them and they are watching the dog, or if they added to the family.  Anyway, this dog is two seconds away from leaping that fence.  He’s figured out how to climb it, he just hasn’t made it over the top yet.  I know because I watched him do it today.  I walked over to their house to let them know but no one answered the door. :(  I feel bad because they are on a busy road and if the dog gets out, he most definitely will get struck by a car.  Not a happy thing.

Rocks and I continued on our way and on the way back home we found the bestest stick ever!  It was laying on the sidewalk so I let Rocky bring it home and he carried his stick all the way back to the porch. :D He loves sticks!  And thankfully my dog loves to destroy but not eat.  So I can give him a stick or a box and he’ll be so happy just tearing it to pieces and I don’t have to worry about him trying to eat or ingest the stuff.  Of course I’m still watching him like a hawk as he’s playing, my kid doesn’t leave my sight.

I wasn’t terribly hungry but was feeling a bit empty.  I didn’t want to go to PT without a little snack because I knew I would be famished during the session.  Not good.  Scott said smoothies would be best and that’s what we had!

A little too gritty

A little too gritty

This was a great smoothie in taste but not in texture.  It didn’t blend enough so it was a bit gritty.  More reason I need a new blender! ;)

  • 2C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • .5C POM
  • 1C water
  • 1/3C oats
  • 1 small scoop protein powder
  • Huge bunch of kale
  • 1 carrot
  • Frozen Pineapple
  • Frozen Blueberries

The oats didn’t blend so well but it was still mighty fine!  Then it was PT time!  Today was just evaluation but I did get an ultrasound treatment (It’s a hamstring!) and some deep tissue massage.  Mmmm  My leg felt tons better after that!

Salad + fruit = perfect lunch

Salad + fruit = perfect lunch

Home to lunch!  I made a kick ass salad for lunch today.

  • Mixed greens
  • Carrots
  • Cucumbers
  • Raisins
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Bean mix
  • Croutons

The spicy bean mix is something I picked up from the prepared foods section at The Hills yesterday.  It is very flavorful and made a great addition to the salad today.  It has corn, chickpeas, blackbeans, and some red peppers.  YUM!  Salad topped with some Newman’s sundried tomato dressing. On the side is leftover tempura which I had a bite of and didn’t finish.  Oooo too greasy, yuck!  And in the middle is some cantaloupe.

I tried to get motivated and work on some articles today after lunch and it just was not happening.  I did get one article completed and that was it.  Meh.  I just didn’t have it in me today I guess.

Some of our clothes needed ironed, mine for tomorrow, Scott’s for tonight and tomorrow.  I did that and chatted with Lorelle for a bit.  Scott needed clothes for this evening because he and Lorelle are at a pre-convention meetup.  It wasn’t long after I ironed the clothes that they headed out.  I did supply Scott with a salad first before he left because you never know what kind of food you’re going to get at events. While they are out, Rocks and I are kicking it at home.  It is giving us some much needed downtime and chance to regroup.  I painted my nails and Rocky sacked out on the bed for a snooze.  And then I got dinner together.

Pre-eats shoot!  I wanted to get this post out for the day so here is a preview of my dinner.  My leftover udon and a wee glass of red.  Keeping the glasses small tonight so I can feel like I’m having more and very indulgent.  I think this meal is going to pair up with one of my favorite movies and I’m going to hang on the couch.  Off to heat up my eats!  Happy Friday!

  1. Oh no, I hope those people fix that fence. It would be terrible if the dog got out :(
Your dog sounds really cute! I love the story about that stick, haha! Have a great night :)
