April 13th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Busy day so far at the HQ but let’s get this recap started!

Last night while Scott and I watched TV there were snacks.

too sweet...

too sweet...

Parisian macaroons from WF, one chocolate and one pralines and cream.  I was also poured another glass of wine which I did not finish.  I don’t think I even drank half of it, I was at my wine/alcohol limit.  I had the chocolate macaroon and one bite of the pralines one.  I ate 1/2 the chocolate macaroon and even that was pushing it.  Good lord that thing was so sweet.  It was like gaggingly sickly sweet after so many bites.  I am so thankful that I’m not a sweets person aside from the occasional chocolate because I don’t have to worry about being tempted by things!  However, the lack of a sweet tooth is balanced out in the cheese and savory snacks catagory.  We all have our weaknesses, right? :D

I hit the hay around 11pm but should have gone to bed long before that.  Part of my problem is that Scott and I aren’t sitting down relaxing until later in the evening (between 8pm-9pm) and I want to spend time with him so I stay up later.  If I go to bed at 10pm or so, then I only get a short amount of time with him in the evenings. :(  I guess I’m just going to have to suck it up and deal with it.

I forgot to show off the plate some of the snacks were on last night!

It’s a plate I got from my grandmother’s house.  I have no idea if it was part of a set or if she only had the one because this is all there is.  And it’s a dinner sized plate but I loved the design.  Seems very art deco-ish, like something you would find in a 1940s kitchen. I love it!

This morning I slept in till 8am and got Rocky out in time just before it started raining.  It’s been raining pretty much all day long since then.  After I took care of him, I headed staight to the office and sat there for 15 minutes icing my leg.  Then I was able to start on breakfast.

I decided to make a small bowl of oats this morning to have with my coffee.

Oats on the outs....

Oats on the outs....

Cranberries, crushed walnuts, and some cashew butter mixed in.  As I was eating this I realized that maybe I’m starting to become an oatbran girl.  This bowl wasn’t nearly as exciting or comforting as oatbran seems to be lately. Oh my!

After breakfast, I got dressed and started doing some laundry.  Then I went around and started getting some stuff better organized.  And I also went through the house and lit some candles.  Very calming and relaxing on this gloomy dreary day.  Plus it makes the house smell good!

After that and getting Bobbi’s feature ready for publication, it was time to make lunch!  I wanted to cover all the bases today: Veggies, fruit, and comforting.  I think I nailed it. ;)

There was Amy’s tomato soup to which I added some chopped spinach and leftover sausage from last night.  On the side was a “fruit salad”.  Mixed greens dressed wtih balsamic, honey, and a bit of oil.  Topped with:

  • Kiwi
  • Orange
  • Blackberries
  • Dried cranberries
  • Pumpkin and sunflower seeds

In the middle was some pumperknickle, moz sticks, and eggroll.  I was only slightly hungry when I put the food on the table and didn’t think I would even make it through my salad.  Not only did I finish the salad, I ate all my soup, 2 slices of bread, and the eggroll.  :o  I guess I was more hungry than I realized!

I’m finishing up laundry and then doing more things around the house.  Including switching desks!  It’s time to get this office in shape. :D

I'm seepin', it's raining outside guys...
