March 5th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hello OHCers!  Happy Thursday to you!  If that seems overly joyous it’s because I got 9hours of sleep last night.  Old lady Andrea was asleep by 9pm last night.  :woohoo:

Scott and I watched a little bit of TV and by 8pm I headed up to bed to read for a bit.  While watching TV, I had three mini-eggs.  I love mini-eggs. :D  I read for about an hour and then lights out.  It was glorious.

I could have still slept a little bit longer but got up at 6am and started my day.  I got Rocks taken care of and it was a lot warmer this morning than it was yesterday and Tuesday.  It did feel a little bit like rain though.  I came back and checked my mail and did some bloggy stuff and then it was time for my run.  1/2 a Zbar before heading out.   Hello 30F and only having to wear one pair of pants!  That was a nice feeling for sure.  I busted out 4.5 miles and was wondering about the increase in cloud coverage.  As far as I know we aren’t supposed to get any rain today.

I had some CS and then did some yoga stretches.  I picked my favorite stretches from the gentle hatha 1 segment and do those a little bit longer and deeper.  I love stretching after my run!  Then I woke up Scotters and got started on breakfast.  But first look at the excitment!

wow!

I got a package in the mail! :swingdance:  I won a contest over at Bobbi’s and my wins were some new nut butters.  They arrived yesterday but the delivery guy didn’t ring the bell.  I heard something “thunk” down on my stoop last night but we get a paper on Wednesday nights so I just assumed it was that.  Next time I’ll make sure to look!  Bobbi, can you send me the email of the rep so I can thank her? :D

I decided to have some butter toffee PB in my oatbran this morning.  Butter toffee?  Hell yes I’m all over that.  Regular oatbran with a small sprinkling of cranberries and crushed walnuts this morning.  YUM!  And the butter toffee is really good.  Not too sweet and doesn’t ovepower the PB.

After breakfast I took Rocky out for his walk.  The increasing wind and clouds made me nervous that it might rain soon, so I wanted to get his walk done.  We busted one out and didn’t get stuck in the rain.  I looked at the forecast for the rest of the week and oh my it’s supposed to be warm!  Like upper 60s warm. :o  Running capris here I come!

Lunch was easy peasy today, fruit and veggies.

Salad with:

  • Romaine
  • Spinach
  • Cranberries
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Sliced almonds
  • Blueberry bear naked granola

Drizzled with fig balsamic and oil.  In the middle is sliced carrot, celery, and roasted veggie kashis with spicy hummus.  Mmm!  And a big blue smoothie! :D

  • 2C orange juice
  • 1.5 kale leaves, stemmed
  • 1 banana
  • Frozen peachs
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Frozen blueberries

So yummy and I love taking in fruits that way. :D

Racing Updates:

After I signed up for the 1/2 in May, I went to the 10K website to sign up for that race.  I thought the race was at the end of this month, however it turns out that it’s April 19th which is just two weeks before the 1/2.  I wasn’t sure if I should sign up for it or not.  People usually taper for races the week of but since this will be my first time logging in any serious distance I don’t know if I’ll need to taper earlier. And because of that, I wasn’t sure if the 10K would be too much right before the 1/2.  I’m still thinking it over and trying to figure out what a good approach would be by that point.

I’ve decided to create a training schedule combining the Runner’s World routine and the Hal Higdon routine.  I have purchased the Shred DVD and should receive that tomorrow.  I’m hoping that will help with the conditioning and strength part of the training.

Rose and I have become running buddies.  Since neither one of us has done this before it helps to talk to someone going through the same thing. :D  No worries, I’m still going to be posting running and training updates because I think I’ve done lost my mind.

You realize I was sleeping, don't you?
