March 20th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch (Happy Spring!)

Spring is here and showed up with 20F degrees in its luggage this morning.  I said it could stay only for a day if that’s its agenda because I’m not putting up with it any longer.  We’ll see what happens tomorrow.  There may be a call placed to Summer.

Last night I decided that I would sleep in today and see how my legs felt in the morning.  I slept in till 8am!  And while I would love to say my rest was glorious, it was not.  Peaceful sleep was foiled by an active husband.  And by active, I mean snoring and rolling around like he was fighting off a bear.  It’s all good though, I know he won’t do it again tonight. :eyebrow:

I chilled this morning and pretty much decided I shouldn’t run.  Oh I wanted to run it is a beautiful day!  But I know my legs just need a rest.  When I headed outside for Rocky’s morning constitutional, I was greeted by frickin’ cold weather.  No seriously, it was in the 20s and windy.  Crazy!  The thought of layering up for a run was not appealing so it sort of reinforced my decision for a rest day.  I came back in and had some coffee.

I wasn’t quite hungry yet, so coffee was a good start.  I putzed around and did some bloggy stuff.  And then the roof guy came.  Last December we had a really bad windstorm and lost some roof tiles.  We had someone come out to take a look and they said our roof was damaged and needing replaced.  Called insurance company who took a look and agreed.  Roof company faxed estimate to insurance company, we came to an agreement and that left us waiting for a new roof.  Because you really shouldn’t put a new roof up in cold weather, it should be much warmer.

Scott called the roof company this week to have them get the ball rolling on the replacement.  The person who answered the phone said that our estimate was from a long time ago and rates have gone up since then and blah blah blah.

I called BS right away.  We set a time for the guy to come out and do a “re-eval”.  Which brings us to today.  He said the estimate stands (of course, because they don’t want to lose business)and so we got the ball rolling on getting our roof done.  Step one in helping our house not look like it is straight out of 1973.  Seriously, the color choices on the outside are gross brown blah.  And the house was built in ’92 so I do not understand this brown/beige color scheme.

Anyways, that’s done.  After roof guy left I could finally make some breakfast!

Which was light and awesome.  A small red delicious cubed, a bit of 2% fage, drizzle maple syrup, and small sprinkling of fruit and nut bear naked.  Mixed and eaten, YUM!  So good!

After breakfast I cleaned the house.  Not organized but you know, weekly scrub down of the kitchen and baths.  Then it was time for some lunch.  I wanted veggies and I wanted some umph today.

Mixed greens and spinach topped with some curry chickpea salad (recipe soon) and some pieces of rotisserie chicken I pulled from the freezer.

On the side was an orange and a piece of the bread from that veggie roll from last night.  I ate my orange and salad but not the bread.

Everything was yummy and totally satisfying.  It hit the spot and I feel like today is off to a much better start than yesterday.

Going up and down the stairs as I cleaned today confirmed that a rest day was indeed the right choice.

Where did you go nice weather?
