March 12th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  Whoa did you see all the comments for the birthday giveaway?!  That’s fantastic! :D  I did indeed have a very small glass of wine last night.

I debated it for a long time though and finally realized 1. It’s birthday week and 2. the bottle will turn if we don’t drink it.  There’s still some left too!  Which shows how small our tastes have been. :)

My new wakeup time until the sun catches up to the time change is now 7:30am.  Rocky seems to be okay with this as he hasn’t protested the sleeping in.  I got up this morning and took care of him, cursing the weather.  It’s cold again.  Nothing crazy but in the 30s with lows in the 20s at night.  I am so over cold!  I don’t want to deal with it anymore.  When everyone else was losing motivation during November-January because it was cold and winter and they didn’t want to workout, I was out busting it, no problem.  But now is when I’m struggling with motivation.  It’s a good thing I’m training for this half!  Otherwise, to be honest, I would not have run today at all.  It’s cold (high to be low 30s today) and a bit windy.  Meh.  At this point, I’m more susceptible to backing out of runs due to weather.  I just don’t have the umph to bundle up!

Just a bit

Just a bit

But I ran today.  I changed into my clothes and just had the worst defeatist attitude.  I hated putting on all those layers again for my run.  I did 4.5 miles with some pickups thrown in at the end.  My time wasn’t great and the entire time I was being negative with myself about how it was cold and I didn’t want to be outside and blah blah blah.  Horrible attitude.  When I got back home, I had a bit of CS, woke Scott up, and then did some yoga stretches.  Changed into recovery clothes and made a bowl of oats!  That’s what kept me going this morning, knowing I was going to make some oats today when I got home.

Standard oats:

  • 3/4C vanilla soymilk
  • 1/2C old fashioned oats
  • 1 banana mashed up
  • Pinch of salt and cinnamon

Mix-ins were cranberries, chocolate chips (since I didn’t have any last night! ;) ), and a scoop of Naturally Nutty Vanilla Almond butter (which is amazing! And that’s says a lot for me because I don’t even like almond butter).

Plus coffee.  YUM!  Breakfast was awesome and totally what I needed today.  I also had another small bit of coffee with silk creamer (which is a poor substitute for actual creamer).  I did some blog stuffs and some worky things and showered so I could get warm. :D  Then it was time for lunch!  I very much was in need of some veggies in my life.

So I made a big salad!

  • Romaine
  • Spinach
  • Chopped carrot
  • A few scoops of leftover blackbeans + corn + salsa
  • Cubed morningstar chik’n patty tossed with buffalo sauce

Salad was awesome!  In the middle is a sliced red delicious.  My salad was even too big, I couldn’t finish it!  I had about 1/2 I think and 1/4 of the apple.  This salad was so filling, it was totally incredible.  Keep in mind, Scott had the same thing, so the chik’n patty was split between us.  Man I very much wanted to keep going but my bellah said no way.

After lunch I ran Rocky out for a quick walk in the cold (again miserable and negative thoughts the whole time. I need to get past this.) and now I’m off to get some other things knocked off my to-do list!
