March 10th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  We got back late last night from SF class.  Boo  In class I was starving and kept dreaming about the toasted pita + PB I was going to make when I got home.  But when I got home I wasn’t hungry anymore.  Odd.  I still felt a little empty so I made a quick snack plate.

I had two prunes, three of the apricots, and that slice of yellow cheddar.  There’s also some swiss on the plate but that was for Scott and I didn’t touch it. :D  I also had some pistachios!  I love pistachios. YUM!  I headed up to bed around 11pm, yuck.

My alarm went off at 6am and holy crap it was dark outside.  There was no way I was running in that so I went back to sleep.  At 7am it was still crazy dark outside.  I got up and took care of Rocky.  While outside I saw that it wasn’t even close to being light so I headed back to bed.  If I would have stayed up, I would have gotten too hungry and would have been forced to eat some breakfast.  I am trying to stick with eating after my runs now, so breakfast before wasn’t an option.  I realize that probably sounds strange but for the summer/fall, I try and stick with eating after working out.

I got up at 8:30am and after eating 1/2 a Zbar, was out the door for my run.  Today was an easy 2.5 miles with 5-7 sprints added in.  I did 7 because I’m an overachiever. Guys this was such a short run!  I completed it in 27 minutes and now that’s like nothing.  I was done and almost didn’t know what to do with myself. :p  I recovered from the shock quickly though.  After my CS, I changed into recovery clothes and it was time for breakfast!

Oatbran today!  I asked Scott which he wanted and he picked oatbran.  Oatbran in my snazzy new bowl.  More on those in a future post. ;)  My mix-ins were:

  • Ground flax
  • Vanilla whey protein powder
  • 1/2 a banana sliced
  • Crushed walnuts
  • Cranberries
  • Some dark chocolate PB

I totally inhaled this bowl and sucked down my coffee very quickly.  Coffee was so good this morning!  I was going to have a little more but the machine was already shut off and I was afraid it wouldn’t be hot anymore.  Nuking it doesn’t taste the same to me.

After breakfast I did some bloggity stuff and some laundry.  I knocked some things off my to-do list and then it was time for lunch.  Man the morning was flying by!

Lunch was simple, light, and easy.  First a salad:

  • Romaine
  • Spinach
  • Sliced almonds
  • Cranberries
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Blueberry granola
  • Some cubed red delicious

Topped with balsamic and oil.  In the middle is an orange and the rest of the apple.  And on the side is a slice of multigrain bread with some spicy hummus on top.  I can’t get enough of that combo!

After lunch I ran Rocky out for his walk and it was in the 60s.  Holy cow I wasn’t prepared for that!  It’s cloudy and looks like it’s about to rain any second but the weather is so nice and mild.  When we got back, I opened the sliding glass door and some windows in the office.  YaY spring!
