Friday, March 13th, 2009: Breakfast and lunch (It’s my birthday, hey)

:fiesta: :swingdance: :fiesta:  Hooray, it’s my birthday!  That’s the message I woke up to this morning. :D

While Scott and I watched the last remaining bits of a Pens game, I had a few sips of his black lager.  I was passing out and just wanted to go to bed and was waiting for the game to end.  Then they went into overtime.  And then it was on to a shootout and I did not stay up for the shootout.  Forget it, I said, I’m going to bed.

And then I slept straight till 6am. :o  Holy cow I must have been exhausted because that never happens.  I usually wake up around 3am-ish for a potty run and some water.  I didn’t get up though. :p  I stayed in bed and slept a little more till my alarm went off at 7:30.  I took care of Rocky and there was frost outside guys.  Frost.  Meh.  I changed into my running clothes and was out the door.

Man but I was so glad today was a pace day because my legs were tired.  After yesterday’s pickups and then conditioning class last night, my legs just did not feel like pumping it too much today.  I was supposed to run 4.5 miles but only ended up doing 3.5.  I could have done more and debated with myself about it for a long time but it came down to the main rule of training is to prevent injury.  My legs and groin muscles (from holding that heavy bag last night) were sore and fatigued. Pushing them too hard could have resulted in not happy results.  So I stuck with 3.5.  And it was slow!  I think my widget shows my pace but if it doesn’t, I was running over an 11minute mile.  Yeah, slow.

I drank some CS, did some yoga stretchs, and then woke my love up.  And then I made us breakfast!

More oats. :D  Standard oats:

  • 3/4C vanilla soymilk
  • 1/2C old fashioned oats
  • 1 mashed banana
  • Pinch salt and cinnamon
  • 1TBSP ground flax
  • Scoop of vanilla whey powder

I kept mix-ins simple this morning.  Coconut, cranberries, and more of the vanilla almond butter.  So good!

With morning coffee that I used with half creamer and half Silk creamer.  Not digging on the Silk creamer, it’s just not creamy.  Creamer is my one big vice, that’s what I want in my coffee.  And since I only have 1 cup a day, I figure it’s not a big deal to have some.

Bloggy stuff and basically lounging around taking it easy cause it’s that kind of day. ;)  I did clean the house though!  And then it was time for lunch, which was also easy peasy.  I wanted something light and wanted some veggies.  But also something warm because I was freezing!

A bit of tomato soup that I added some black beans to.  Um, black beans and tomato soup is an amazing combination! How come no one mentioned this to me before?  I will be doing that from now on, it’s so good!  Also a wee piece of fish that was leftover from Wednesday with a few bites of rice.  A small slice of pizza (for the veg and healthy cheese fat of course) which was so much better the second day. And I so wanted more but did not have any.  Saving up for dinner out tonight!  In the middle is a carrot, going old school with celery and PB, and 1/2 a sliced red delicious.  Lunch was perfect because there were plenty of things for me to pick between and munch on.  Like a sampler platter, love those!

After lunch I took Rocky for his walk and when I got back there was a prezzie on my desk!  Look at the goodies, it shows you how diverse my tastes are. :p

There’s a complete documentary on WWII, the fourth book in the fantasy (a la LOTR) series I’m reading, The Life Aquatic, Lost in Translation, and then a CD of the Portuguese songs from The Life Aquatic!  Oh goodness!  I’m listening to it right now.  Those two movies are two of my favorite movies of all time.

Time to get ready for dinner tonight!  YaY!
