December 31st, 2008: Breakfast and lunch

Hi guys!  It’s the last day of 2008, isn’t that crazy?!  Whoa but this year flew by!  I’m currently working on my 2009 goals post so look for that soon. :D

Last night Scott and I watched a Pens game we taped a couple days ago.  Man I don’t know what their deal is but they have been stinking like a pile of poo.  Good lord.  I had a glass of white while we watched.

Then we moved on to watching The Maltese Falcon.  We love old black and white movies!  I had another glass of white while we watched the movie and munched on these.

In a moment of weakness at the store I bought some spicy Cheeze-Its.  And I didn’t even bother reading the ingredients until I got them home and opened the box!  Thankfully it’s not terribly horrible but still, Cheeze-Its.  Kashi I am begging you to come out with some spicy cheese crackers.  I don’t know how I made it through the movie because by 9pm I was passing out on the couch.  I survived till 11pm though and promptly hit the hay.

The wind started at about 12am from what Scott tells me.  I know it woke me up early in the morning.  Stupid wind.  It never occurred to me that Columbus, OH would be wind storm central.  I hate it because I hate wind.  So all this wind that we have been getting since we’ve lived here is not endearing me to the area.  I wasn’t sure if I would be able to fall back to sleep but thankfully I did.

I woke up around 8am and decided to get moving on my day.  I was about to let Rocky out when I saw this cat that has been coming around lately stalking my little birdies.  Now I’m not angry at the cat, it is just doing what cats do.  I’m angry at the owners who in this day and age still feel the need to let their cats roam loose.  Ugh!  I was about to shoo it away but it left on it’s own.  Once it was gone Rocky and I went out to take care of business.

Then I came in and made some more oats!

Standard oats like yesterday.  Mix-ins were blueberry bear naked, cranberries, and some dark chocolate PB.  It was fab!

Along with morning coffee + creamer.  I ate and surfed blogs for a bit.  Then decided to brave the wind and do a run.  I couldn’t even tell you how far I ran, I’ll have to see if I can look it up.  I just ran and made a whole bunch of loops skirting the skeevy construction guys.  I ran for 48 minutes, woo!

The wind was miserable.  Miserable.  And I knew it would be too windy for Rocky.  I drank my CS and then stretched on my own, no Wii Yoga.  Then I changed and hit the shower.  I’m hoping the wind dies down at some point so I can get Rocks out for his walk.

I did some bloggy stuff and then decided to make some lunch.  Guess what I finally found?!  Sandwich thins!  Oh yeah!  I have been searching high and low for these things.

I made us quick hot ham ‘n cheese sammies.  Mine had two slices of ham and a slice of cheddar.  Wrap in foil and toss in the oven till everything is melty and warm.  Mmm!  In the middle is three clems and 1 orange with chips and salsa in the far back.  I was going to have a salad because we are super snacking tonight and I wanted to keep things light and healthy.  However I am currently freezing cold and a salad was not going to help that situation.  Warm sandwich is was!

I love these sandwich thins, oh my goodness they are perfect.  I have been going open-face with my sandwiches because I just don’t need all that bread (even if it is WW or other whole grains) but I went with both slices of these and am glad I did.  They are portioned just right and if you are counting cals (I don’t but I know some do) the list is for 1 roll:

  • 100 cals
  • 1g of fat
  • 4g of protein

That’s is good for bread!  I will definitely be keeping these in rotation when I can find them.

We keep our NYE low-key around here.  Scott and I aren’t big on going out and mingling during the holidays.  Honestly we’d much rather be home and in our jammies, NYE being no different.  We have a tradition going back almost 10 years!  Our first NYE in our first apartment (not our first one as a couple, just first one when we started living together) was going into 2000.  Remember the whole Y2K craze and everyone was frantic?  Yeah well we didn’t need to be a part of that crowd so we hung at home.  That’s when we discovered The Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi.  We have been doing this ever since.  At home in our jammies, champagne all night long, snackies, and TTZ.  It’s awesome!  Last year we had two invites for parties and we turned them down because we wanted to stay home and continue on with the tradition we created for ourselves.  This year is the same! :D

Okay guys I’ve got a bunch to do today before NYE festivities begin.  Rocky still needs a walk and a bath to get NYE pretty.  I need to work on my goals for 2009 post and I have to do some cooking.  I guess I need to get moving!
