October 3rd, 2008: Lunch and dinner

Hi guys! What a crazy day yesterday was, wow! I did clean the house despite how much I procrastinated on it. First we had to have lunch because I was starving.

Lunch was kind of a mish-mash of things because we need to go grocery shopping. I had cucumbers and a wedge of LC lite french onion on health nut bread for a sandwich. On the side was a pile of banana peppers, two slices of salami and four raincoast crisp crackers. I ate all of my sandwich except for a few crust pieces, one slice of the salami (I didn’t care for it much, new brand), all of the crisps, and all of the peppers. The butter and bread in the background is for Scott who had soup.

Then I cleaned and got some more things done around the house. Yesterday (Thursday) the service guy who came to our house, he did the satellite set up. He told Scott that the HD channels were on a different satellite and sometimes it could take 24 hours to get set up and in sync with the satellite. We briefly got some HD channels and then couldn’t receive any more. Thinking it was the 24 hour issue, we left it be. Well when checking again 24 hours later nothing. Scott called the company to troubleshoot only to find out that the installer forgot to give us the cable that handles the HD channels. :irked: So they are sending some out to us which could take 2-5 days.

Which means we have no HD channels for possibly another week. I am not pleased. The customer service person said we could check with Best Buy to see if they have any since they are Direct TV sellers or whatever. So going over to Best Buy was added to our to-do list.

It was getting close to dinner time and I knew we still had to go out and run errands which meant who knew when dinner would be. I was hungry and needed to have a bit of a snack.

Easy snack

Since I hadn’t eaten any yogurt yet, I decided on having some of the bare naked granola, some dried cranberries mixed with a few spoonfuls of yogurt. Yum! However it did not fill me up, it just barely quieted my stomach. I got Rocky fed and then it was time to head out. First stop was Best Buy to see if they had cables. They did not, the cables were supposed to be in the box with the receiver, ours wasn’t for some reason. Now we do have to wait. Grrrr!

While we were there, Scott said we should check for Wii Fits. I said okay not thinking twice about it. We round a corner and there they were! This Best Buy had like 10 of them all sitting out ready to go. Wow! I grabbed one up right away. Hooray!

Then it was over to the running store to get new shoes. I actually ended up getting a pair that are just a newer version of my older pair. I like them a lot, very comfy and light on my feet.

After that we were both hungry and decided to go out to dinner (actually we haven’t been out to dinner in so long neither of use could remember the last time!). There was a bar right across the street from the running store and we opted to go there since we had never been before. There was a wait but we expected that for a Friday night. However the wait wasn’t long at all and we were seated in no time. Now I did my best with these pics but some are a bit dark. You don’t realize how dark a bar is until you try to take pictures! I wanted a Sam Adam’s Octoberfest but they didn’t have any. Our server said they had Becks though. Well I never had Becks so he said he would bring us a sample. Wow! I have never been offered a sample of beer before at a bar!

Wee beer

The samples were probably around 4oz and which actually turned out to be a decent size! Both of us liked the beer and ordered glasses. It sort of tasted like a cross between a Killian’s and a Newcastle.

I had the girly 16oz and Scott had the 20oz. I was surprised by the sizes, I always assume you’re getting 12 or 10oz of beer when at a restaurant. Both of us ordered starters, I had the house salad and Scott ordered the spinach dip.

I got the balsamic vinaigrette with my salad. And the menu described the salad as “mixed greens”, it was some iceberg and romaine. Which technically is two different lettuces, but I do not consider that “mixed greens”. I picked the mushrooms off and Scott used them to dip in the spinach dip! :p I ate most of my salad, it was bigger than it looks. And a couple bites of the dip which was yummy but seemed prepackaged. Both of us ordered the blue plate special for dinner.

Which was 1/2 rack of ribs, fries, and some coleslaw. It was typical bar food, the ribs were okay and exactly what you would expect from a place that is not a rib place. I thought they were a little dry. I had 1/2 of the 1/2 rack, some fries, and a couple bits of coleslaw. I brought the rest home except for the coleslaw. Scott had some dip left so we brought that home as well. I was still munching on my salad during dinner so that helped fill me up as well.

During dinner we chatted about everything and then big future plans. We would like to start a business together at some point down the road. Scott said I would have to be the boss though to keep things on track. :p

Our bill came and I was blown away, $50!

Me: This is why we don’t go out to dinner. That’s crazy! Do you know the kind of spread I could put on for 50 bucks! One glass of beer?! Pffttt! You could have a whole case to go with your food.

So yeah, it will be awhile before we go out again. Dang.

We came home, got in our jammies, and each had a pumpkin beer. We watched some stuff on TV and then it was bedtime for me. I was tired and it didn’t take me long to fall fast asleep.
