October 3rd, 2008: Breakfast

Dear Friday,

You have become my favorite day of the week. You have bumped Thursday out of the way and took over. On Friday I make my own schedule. I don’t have to hurry and shower after my morning workout because I have the whole day ahead of me to do whatever. I love you Friday!

Hugs and Kisses,

A

Good morning guys! As you can see, this is my favorite day of the week. This is almost like a Sunday for me, very relaxing and calm. In case you were reading my twitter last night where I said I needed more wine, well that didn’t happen. I had my one glass and that was plenty. I sipped it during the whole debate and was having trouble staying awake for the whole thing! :p By the time it was over, I was more than ready to hit the hay and I slept like a log too!

It was dark this morning and I couldn’t get a proper morning pic. I like opening my posts with them and get kind of bummed when it doesn’t work out. I ran my new route this morning and I was having one of those days where no matter what I did, my HR just did not want to go up. I tried but alas, it stayed in the 150s to low 160 range. Oh well, at least I was working it, right? That’s the important part.

A bit more

A bit more

I poured a bit more CS this morning than normal. Despite my HR being low, I was pretty thirsty when I got home. I was also a tad hungry. My stomach was grumbling before I left for my run, but I don’t eat anything before running since I’m only doing such a short distance right now. I was hoping the tad more CS would help that. I also added a wee bit more distance to Rocky’s walk this morning and it ended up not even adding to our total time out. :o Weird! It was chilly out but not too bad. I have a thicker long sleeve workout shirt that I wore (which also wicks away sweat) that did the trick. Kept me warm but not too much so that I felt hot and suffocating.

A's best oats!

A's best oats!

By the time I was back home and changed into recovery clothes my stomach was in full “feed me now!” mode and grumbling like crazy. I made a bowl of oats and I have decided that this is probably the perfect combo of oats for me. :D It’s the standard mix of:

  • 1/2 C of quick oats
  • 1 whole banana mashed up
  • 3/4 C of vanilla soymilk
  • Cinnamon

And my mix-ins are 1/3 cup of homemade granola and a spoon of dark chocolate PB. So yum! Perfect with the granola, gives me plenty of crunch and keeps it interesting. And the PB just adds a nice depth and chocolate surprise perfect for my mornings.

Coffee this morning was coconut + creamer. Oh it was so good! I love mixing it up and having different flavors of coffee. We desperately need to go to the store and get more veggies and fruits. I hope they have more of the fall flavor creamers out!

Does anyone subscribe to Women’s Running Magazine? I got an email about it from Title 9 and I think I’m going to sign up for a year and see how it goes. My only issue so far is that all the women on the covers seem a bit unrealistic and a little too oiled up? Is that just me? They seem more like models than athletes. But maybe I’m wrong?

In case you are unfamiliar, Title 9 is a store that sells athletic gear and clothes for women and only women. I have been buying from them for years. I have had one issue in the past with the not-so timely delivery of a package but it was only that one time. And I have looked for comparable stores and have not found one, which made me go back to them. The prices are high but the sales are pretty decent (which is when I usually buy) and returns are a snap. They have a hoodie that I’m interested in but it’s crazy expensive and I’m having a hard time justifying such a purchase.

Well I need to get moving and get some things down around here. Try and knock more things off my to-do list! See you later!
