September 9th, 2008: Breakfast

Morning guys! I was ready to get up and moving for my run this morning. I quickly checked outside to see if it was raining and it was not, although I still would have run anyway. Put on my workout clothes and got Rocky fed and outside. It was so chilly! After I brought him back in, I pulled out a light thermal to wear on my run. After about 5 minutes though, I took that sucker off; I was toasty!

I did the long way again today and I got through the first half just fine, it’s the second half where I go, “Ugh. I still have to go here and around there and back again.” But I can do it which is what I keep telling myself otherwise I would just make myself miserable. I have yet to achieve the same amount of burned calories as I did the first time I did this run. I’m assuming I’m not working hard enough and will have to start bumping it up. It was spitting rain while I was out.

Had my recovery drink and then it was back out the door to take Rocky for his walk. We were almost back home when it started to really rain and come down at a good clip. It was the type of rain that is chilly and so very very wet. Yesterday, Kath had pumpkin oats and that sounded so yummy! Today seemed like a good day for oats since it was all overcast, chilly, and raining.

I made 1/2 cup of quick oats in 3/4 cup of vanilla Silk with a mashed banana. I added 3 TBSP of pumpkin, and a splash of vanilla extract, and a bit of honey. I portioned out half for my bowl. I topped it with homemade granola, 10 pecans crushed up, and some shredded coconut.

I mixed it all up and chowed down. Had the usual coffee plus creamer as well. I drank most of my coffee and ate all of my oats. It could have used some peanut butter I think or definitely something to kick it up even more. It did the trick but didn’t keep me full. I might pick at something. I like oats but cannot eat a huge bowl of it; I start getting a little gaggy towards the end. Smaller portions are perfect for me, but I am going to have to start thinking about a side to go with it.

I’m doing laundry today and cleaning up around the house and getting things ready to be painted. See you later!
