September 25th, 2008: Breakfast

Good morning guys! I am a bouncing bundle of energy today for some reason. Maybe because I was in bed by 9:30 and asleep by 10:30? Before going up to read I made Scott and I some quick drinks to sip.

Mandarin Lime Fizz

Mandarin Lime Fizz

Half mandarin flavored seltzer + half limeade with a lime wedge squeeze on top. Yum! It was really light and refreshing. Probably one of Scott’s favorites so far. Sipped that while we watched a bit of TV. Then it was time to go read.

I slept awesome last night and woke up before my alarm went off. I decided just to get up and get started on my day. I have a big to-do list that I want to tackle.

Morning

This is what the sky looked like this morning when I got up. This is one of my very favorite things about fall, the way the sky looks. I love the inky dark blue color of the sky and how everything else takes on a silhouette appearance.

The moon

The moon

Since it only looks like a wee speck in the first pic, here’s a close up of the moon. Very cool morning both in image and in temperature. I love waking up before the sun is fully up. It’s hard getting out of bed that early sometimes but it’s worth it to see mornings like this.

I did my full run this morning and I was dragging. I’m not sure what my problem is lately but I need to do something so that I don’t feel like I’m full of lead on my runs. I complete them but man sometimes it feels soooo hard. And I’m only doing 1.6 miles so it’s not like I’m running a huge distance. Wore my little blue long sleeve shirt again this morning and it worked out perfectly. I love that thing! :cheerful:

Refuel

I slammed my drink this morning. I wanted to get out the door and get Rocky’s walk done. Since I had gotten up early, my goal was to be back home and in my recovery clothes by 8am. Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way but I was close! It was 10 after 8 when we made it back home.

Creamy nectarine

Creamy nectarine

Yesterday’s oatmeal was so good I wanted more! I was out of peaches so I chopped up some nectarines to use. Basic oats:

  • 3/4 c vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2 c of quick oats
  • vanilla extract
  • cinnamon
  • 1 banana mashed up

The last few minutes of cooking I added in two chopped nectarines. I took my share and my mix-ins this morning were raisins, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, and some pumpkin seeds. Yum! I love this fruit combo in the oats.

Breakfast

Oats and my morning coffee. The coffee this time was awesome! Hooray! I’m off to get a start on this to-do list. See you guys later!
