September 14th, 2008: Morning and brunch

I got to run today! Hooray!!! I love running on Sundays and I realize that probably sounds so weird but Sundays are my favorite day for running. I used to take Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off from running. Saturday morning I have MT and Monday morning I have PT, Sundays was a relaxing day. But that was too many days off for me. I was up early on Sundays anyway because Rocky got up, so I might as well run. It’s so quite Sunday mornings. No one else is out that early except other people that are exercising as well. During the week early in the morning kids are going to school, people are going to work, and there is so much traffic. Sunday morning there is none of that. It’s a whole different world.

I was going to do a short run this morning since I hadn’t run for several days and I had a bit of a sore throat yesterday unsure if that was due to being very thirsty or if it was the start of something else. I didn’t want to push myself this morning. I started running and my shin where I have the goose egg was tight and sore. A bit into my run it started to loosen up, thankfully. When I got to the point in my run where I could cut it short and go home or keep going and make it longer, I made it longer. How could I not? :p My shin was doing okay and I would have beaten myself up too much if I cut it short. The long way it was!

I was a sweating so much! We are still having gross humid weather but that means I can still get some use out of my new shirts. I remembered my bandanna so I could wipe off the sweat from my face.

I missed you!

I missed you!

I had a glass of chocolate Silk and then was back out the door with Rocky for a long walk. He needed that walk. He’s been couped up for a few days because of the rain we had and he was starting to go a little stir crazy.

Yummy!

Yummy!

Back home and changed out of my sweaty running clothes it was time for some breakfast! I had a Fage 2% yogurt cup that I added the last of the granola to and some honey for some sweetness. Plus a cup of coffee with creamer. I think once my other tubs of regular Stoneyfield yogurt are finished, I’m just going to start getting Fage instead. This is the best yogurt. It’s thick and creamy and has way more protein than regular yogurt. That little cup I had for breakfast had 16g of protein in it! That’s fantastic! It takes to flavor very well so it can be flavored however you want and it’s not quite as tangy as regular yogurt.

After a while I was starting to get hungry, since Scott was going to be up soon I decided to get started on “breakfast”. Kath had mentioned some gingerbread beer she had tried and that sounded very delicious to me! I wondered if I had the ingredients to make some gingerbread. Looking through my baking cabinet I found some gingerbread mix. Whee! So that’s what I made for us.

Yummy breakfast!

Along with the gingerbread I made us a quick fruit salad. I thawed some pineapple, mango, raspberries, and blackberries. I just now realized I could have added some grapes! Oh well. I let that sit in some limeade and cranberry juice. I sliced up a banana to go with it. That wasn’t enough for me and I had another little piece of gingerbread. However the pics of that came out really blurry but it was the same size as the other small pieces. Scott had mango juice with his breakfast so I had a couple sips of that. The rest of the day is going to consist of me doing laundry and sitting on the couch. I had thoughts of grilling but we are under a wind advisory until late this evening. Effects of hurricane Ike I guess. I don’t really want to grill in that kind of wind!

  1. Hrm… Well it’s sort of like a cross between a cake and a quickbread (banana nut for example). It’s fluffy and so yummy! Like gingerbread cookies just in a different form. :D
