Pushup and Plank Challenge

I know that I don’t usually post on Saturdays but I had to break the rules this time around.

A brand new month means a brand new beginning and with that I’m taking on two challenges.

Over the past year and a half I’ve lost a lot of “me”.

Because of injury my running went to pot.

Because of school and other obligations, all extra curricular martial arts training went out the window.

That’s left me frustrated, weak, and having gained poundage that I don’t need.

September is for fresh starts and I want to get me back.

Starting today I’m doing a pushup challenge and a plank challenge for the month of September.

Push-Up Challenge:

I’m going to follow the 100 Push-Up program. Truthfully I’m not really looking to get to 100 push-ups.  If I do great, but my main goal is to be able to do at least 50 push-ups without having to bail out or drop to my knees.

With this program, I would be doing push-ups for three days a week and working on increasing the amount I can do.

Plank Challenge:

My running isn’t going to get any better unless I get stronger.  Core strength is so important for running and pretty much all exercise you want to participate in.

There is no formal website or challenge put forth with the planks.  The idea is to hold the planks for as long as you can and work to increase your time each day.

I don’t really have a goal with this one.  Should I?  Not sure. My main objective is just to help build my core strength back up and to be able to hold a plank for longer than 30 seconds.

I’ll be checking in on Tuesdays with my results from the previous week. If you want to join me, let me know in the comments so we can encourage each other.  If you have a blog, I’ll link to your results on my Training Tuesday posts.  If you don’t have a blog, no worries, just post your results in the comment section!

Here’s to building strength and confidence this month!

  1. Ooh awesome challenge A! Hmm I think I’ll join you with an adaptation of my own! I’ve gotten out of regular yoga :( and really would benefit in physical, psychological, and spiritual domains if I devoted time to even ten sun salutations daily. My body needs the release. I am with you starting tonday!
