Pizza Thursday report for September 23rd, 2010

Hi gang!  Oooo this week has been a crazy one!  In fact ever since September hit, we have been going full steam ahead and it doesn’t look like that is going to let up any time until after the New Year.

First of all, that is one jam packed schedule! Second of all, can you believe I just mentioned the New Year like it was no big deal?!  That’s the time of year we are in kids, I don’t care what you might think of me, but the holiday season officially starts for me in September.

Now most people when they hear, “holidays” they automatically think of Christmas and maybe Thanksgiving.  But in September Fall starts! And that’s a holiday to me.  Then there’s Halloween and I will feel sad for you if you don’t like Halloween.  It’s not all about dressing up.  There are scary movies, candy corn, carving pumpkins, The Great Pumpkin, and fun foods! What’s not to like?!  Naturally Thanksgiving is after that, then (insert your religious holiday here) and then the New Year.

See?  The Holidays start in September!

How did Columbus welcome in the first holiday, the start of Fall?  With 90 degree weather and humidity of course!  Good times.

Please note the sarcasm.

How did the HQ welcome in the first holiday?  With a Antipasti inspired pizza!  Oh Yeah!

I realize that it looks a little too brown and possibly not so tasty but I promise it was delicious!

  • Whole Wheat Crust
  • Light on the pizza sauce
  • Spinach
  • Shredded moz and parm
  • Red Onion
  • Green Peppers
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Mushrooms (Scott’s side)
  • Artichoke hearts sliced into quarters
  • Pepperoni pieces

Here’s the scoop.  Scott loves olives and whenever we go to the grocery store he’ll usually check out the olive bar and see what kind of nibbles he can get.  Recently he got these marinated sundried tomatoes that were garlicky and so good.  I tried some!  Then we picked up some pepperoni, the kind you slice yourself.  Ever had that?  It’s a lot more tastier than the kind that is presliced.  This was no meds, minimally processed blah blah blah pepperoni.  You know the drill on my eats.

Anyway, I got to thinking, “Okay what if we did like an antipasti inspired pizza with pepperoni and marinated stuff?”

So in a huge bowl I combined all the ingredients except for the pepperoni, and added 3 cloves of shredded garlic, Ms. Dash Italian Seasoning, big pinch of red pepper flakes, lots of balsamic and olive oil.  Stirred, covered, and set in the fridge all day long.

Topped the pizza with all those fixin’s and then the pepperoni.

Holy crap this was the best pizza ever.  The tomatoes got a little crispy but otherwise this was amazing.  Totally trumps the sundried tomato, spinach, and feta pizza by a long shot.  I had three pieces and seriously debated having another it was so good that I didn’t want to stop eating it.  I’m drooling just thinking of it!

We watched the lamest Roadshow.  It was so boring and took ages to get through. Nothing worthy to note!

Wine of the evening was a new to us Cab by Foodies.  It was really good!  It was a very light Cab, almost reminded me of something close to a Beaujolais Villages.

I didn’t even have any dessert! I was beat and since I’ve got TWO hot dates today, I figured I needed my rest. :D

Happy Friday friends!  Any plans for the weekend?

  1. Yummy looking pizza Andrea! Made me hungry all over again! ;)

As for plans – I’m heading to Vancouver and on Sunday we’re heading to Vij’s with Marianne (From French Fries to Flax Seeds). It’s an Indian restaurant the New York Times proclaimed the best in the world!!!

We’re both too excited for words!!!!!!!!!! lol :D

  2. That pizza looks amazing! I love lots of veggies on mine and I’m a big fan of olives myself ;-)

My schedule this month has been insane and it’s definitely not letting up anytime soon. Fall is probably my favorite time of year though, especially for all the pumpkin stuff!

I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I hear ya…where did this year go? I just told my husband that we need to start getting gifts for our kids for the holidays! I am ready for fall, but I am not really ready for this year to be over yet…unless next year promises to be better!

Your pizza looks delicious! Have a great weekend!

  4. I’m not a fan of olives AT ALL. You would think I’d like them since I love salt so much…… :)

But that pizza looks great – and the crust!! Mmmm…

Headed to visit some friends tonight, running tomorrow morning, and then some downtime finally. Can’t wait!
