Pizza Report for Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Hooray pizza!  If you’re curious why there was no report from last week, (if you even noticed ;) ) is because there was no pizza.  My dough started out alright but somewhere along the way it turned to crap.  It wouldn’t roll out and stay together.  Instead it was a gloppy mess and I turned to Plan B.  Which was Pad Thai that was deliciously spicy and a nice way to ease the suffering.

This week I decided that I was going to tackle this beast and make some flipping pizza!  I made the dough and promptly stuck it in the fridge.  My belief being the weather was affecting the dough.  The heat and humidity causing the dough to rise too quickly making it unstable.

At least this is my belief, I have no idea if I’m correct.

We came home and I pulled the dough out of the fridge.  It rolled out nicely and didn’t fall apart as I put it on the transfer sheet.  I topped it and fixed it all up.  By the time that was done the dough had come to room temperature and started to become “too soft”.  I knew this might be a problem.  We were able to get the pizza onto the stone and it did cook through.

Sausage with peppers and onion pizza!

  • Pizza sauce
  • Shredded Moz and provolone
  • Spinach
  • Hot Italian Sausage (from WF)
  • Onion
  • Green Pepper
  • Mushrooms (Scott’s half)

I will say that the pizza was alright.  It was pizza and it was fine but certainly not the best pizza ever.  And I just about at my wit’s end.

What am I going to do?

I have one last thing up my sleeve that I am going to consider for next week’s pizza and will see how that plays out.  If it doesn’t work then I have no idea what to do about this situation.  There may indeed be a pizza induced meltdown here at the HQ.

I had enough room for dessert and had some So Delicious (my fave ice cream) in Butter Pecan flavor.  Amazing!  And I’m wondering if I should consider an ice cream maker for myself because that is all I want right now for dessert.  Something cold!

Do any of you make ice cream?
