Pizza Thursday Report for April 1st, 2010

Starting the month off with a Pizza Thursday is even better than when the month starts on a Sunday!  Pizza Thursday right outta the gate seemed like a perfect intro to spring.

I tried to keep that in mind just a tad and put out lots of green on the pizza this week.

  • Spelt crust
  • Pizza sauce
  • Moz and asiago
  • Red onion
  • Sundried tomatoes
  • Broccoli
  • Spinach

This pizza was so good and totally perfect because I was starving!

I did something different with the crust this week.  Scott and I really like hot sauce on our pizza.  The trouble is that as soon as hot sauce hits the heat, it starts running all over the place.  When we just used a cookie sheet to bake the pizza this wasn’t a problem as the liquid was contained.  On a pizza stone it’s not the same.  The liquid runs off the pizza onto the stone and sometimes down to the bottom of the oven.

Hrm?  How am I going to handle this situation because we really dig on the hot sauce.

Oh how about hot sauce IN the dough?  SCORE!  I added it along with some spices as I was making the dough.  It smelled amazing and turned out great!  Since this was my first attempt I didn’t use too much hot sauce but next time I am putting a ton more in.

Look at that bubble browned cheese!  Four pieces went into my bellah!
