Here is what happens:

They pile a ton of material up on top of each other. They have a machine that cuts out the shape of the clothing item – so it looks like the pair of jeans or top or whatever. When it is lowered down on the big pile of material, as it’s cutting through several layers, things shift. Then everything gets sewn together and that’s why sizes don’t make sense.

Basically.

No, really – that’s why I try on everything (after I get home, never in the store – that’s so gauche ) even though I know I bought everything in the same size. Because of the way they cut the fabric, nothing is actually the same size.

Same exact thing happened to me at Gap!! Found this pair of super dark, super cute pair of jeans. Decided I loved them- 2 weeks later, ran in grabbed the same pair, same size in a lighter wash. Didn’t try them on, because I figured, why- it’s the same size and cut!

well, the new pair was so big! I don’t know what it is about dark washes- they’re so much smaller than lighter washes. Bummer about your sexy bell-bottoms!!

My ego is fragile enough already! Something like this might send me over the edge. Actually, I experienced quite a bit of these mind-body image games trying to shop in the Philippines: sizes run much smaller so it was so humiliating to try on my ‘regular size’ and look like a overbaked muffin! Ugh.

Random facts? Besides my coffee addiction? I once won a race but I consider the whole experience a fluke that will never be repeated and when it happened I didn’t actually believe it, I had to go look at the results board to prove it to myself!

Bummer about the jeans!! That’s a shame that the company screwed up the sizes… Old Navy jeans are that way… I tried on the same size but in different styles and some fit perfectly and others I could barely get up over my thighs! Grrrr!! Very frustrating.
