December 14th, 2009: impromptu date night

Hi gang!  Last night Scott and I kicked it with an old movie and then some Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  There was wine:

Red wine (PS: it's me!)Chocolate and toffee

And chocolate involved.  I only ended up having some toffee and one square of sea salt dark chocolate.  I tried a new chocolate last night, a very small piece of Green & Black’s Organic 70% chocolate and immediately regretted that choice.  The chocolate tasted like basement.  Good thing I bought it on sale and didn’t shell out all 5 clams for it.  Yikes!  I crashed in bed around midnight, way too late but it happens.

Coffee, yogurt, granola, and apple

I had thought briefly of running this morning but decided that I would give the muscles a rest and just continue on with Monday rest days. :D  I had a fabbo yogurt mess this morning.

  • Red delicious
  • Banilla Stoneyfield
  • Homemade granola

And the most horrible cup of coffee ever.  Lordy!  It was like drinking water mixed with milk and a bit of sugar added.  I didn’t even finish it.  When I woke Scott up this morning, it was like he is so in-tune with me that he instantly knew it was bad because the first thing he said was, “How was the coffee?”  We are so connected!

Either that or he already knew he made a bad batch last night. ;)

However, because he is amazing, he made a brand new pot of coffee that was fantastic!  And I had two mugs of it, okay well 1.5 mugs of it when I got back from walking Rocky.  It was a lot warmer today than it had been lately but it was still damp gross outside.  Ick!  But at least we got outside for a bit!  Yesterday it rained all day long and Rocky was about to lose his mind to stir-craziness.  He is a sleeper but has to get some sort of exercise in otherwise he gets antsy.  I totally understand that feeling but wow I wish I could explain to him the situation when needed.

I worked on blog things all day long.  I didn’t finish Rocky’s shopping nor did I finish the blog things.  I felt productive yet very unproductive.

Productive was making lunch!  In the frozen food items category, we have been digging on this.

Burrito

Ceadarlane brand stuffs.  It’s all organic and so on and so on.  While Amy’s makes some nice burritos, most of that stuff has tofu in it and not all that much veggies.  Even though the burritos claim to be veggie, in all honesty, there’s not much there.  Ceadarlane is chock full of veggies and no tofu!  Tofu is okay, but I’m not looking for it in a burrito.  Anyway, today Scott had the burrito with verde sauce and I thought it was fantastic.  I snuck a bite. ;)  He liked it enough but found the other one he had tried previously to be better.  To each his own.

Salad

I had some salad of course.

  • Mixed greens
  • Carrot
  • Red onion
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Cranberries
  • Crushed nuts
  • Feta

With balsamic/honey/olive oil on top.  The norm!  Which I think from now on it would be safe to just assume that.   If I have something different I’ll be sure to tell you! :D  I added the cranberries after the pic was taken.

Smoothie

Smootielicious:

  • 1C Carrot Juice
  • 1C Unsweetened Cranberry-Pom juice
  • 1C Water
  • Kale
  • Banana
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Frozen mango

Salad and smoothie

And in the middle was some clementines and the last of the Polish “potato salad” that I ate before Scott even had a chance to know it was there.  Too bad suckah!

After lunch it was more blog stuff and putzing around getting other things today.  Uh, but still not as productive as I would have liked!  Scott and I both have a bunch of stuff to get done before we hit holiday vacation.  I don’t know about you but we always seem to have a ton of stuff that we need to get caught up on, both personal and work related, before we take vacations.  It seems like we’re always playing catch-up.

Today as we were sitting in the office discussing all the things that we have to do, we decided to just do what we were talking about, and catch-up!

We also had a little impromptu date night tonight at home,  sort of related to the fact that Scott toke a tumble down the stairs today.  He’s okay but totally he wiped out and fell down the stairs.  He’s a little banged up and sore so rest for him was also on the agenda.

Dinner table

We decided to give into my craving for some Asian food.  I saw a picture of some and could not get it out of my mind!  I put on all the xmas lights and lit some candles so we could eat all cozy at the dinner table. I also immediately threw on my jammies.  There’s something very comforting and intimate when you can share a meal with someone you love and you are both in your jammies!  It brings out a different kind of connectedness.  I love that feeling!

Pad Thai

The vegetarian spring rolls and sauce.  I only had a few bites, I didn’t care for the much.  Too much roll and not enough spring!  Some veggie pad Thai (extra veggies) and a few shrimp + veggies on my plate of deliciousness.  The Pad Thai was amazing and the shrimp + veggies was alright.  I wouldn’t get that again.  Pad Thai is my new love!  And they give you a ton of it, holy cow.  I had that portion on my plate (which looks like a mound but really isn’t) and there is still a huge tupperware container left over.

We are also still working our way through that huge bottle of wine I told you about before!  It’s taking us several days! :p So while we get caught up on projects this evening, there will be some sippage as well.  Off to do some worky, catch you all tomorrow!

  1. I know exactly what you mean by those productive but unproductive days. You feel like you’ve been working for hours but getting nothing really accomplished.

Oh NO! Hope Scott is okay. Poor guy. Tell him not to feel too embarrassed though, because I totally wiped out myself this weekend on a sheet of ice. I also had hands full of christmas presents that went FLying into the puddles of freezing rain on my front lawn. Twas quite unfortunate but thankfully, no permeant damage.

Hope you had a lovely Monday!
