Hi guys!  I felt so much better last night I did have a glass of wine and a snack! :D

red wine chocolate mint cookies

A glass of red and I made some chocolate mint cookies.  Wooot!  Although they came out a little more puffy muffin like than cookie like but they were still awesome.  I kicked back three. :D  Made with whole wheat pastry flour, small amounts of sugar, and yogurt instead of eggs.  Fabbo!

I have to tell you that I almost ran this morning, so close!  I decided to sleep-in one more day and give my body a rest.  I may be back to 100% but I don’t want to rush things and end up a few steps back, ya know?  I took care of my Rocks and then had some breakfast because despite four slices of pizza and three cookahs, this A was hungry!

coffee and oatbran

Oatbran with an apple and some coffee.  I was really looking forward to the coffee but unfortunately it tasted icky to me today.  I tried two cups and couldn’t finish either.  Yuck!  Dunno what that is all about!

I did some bloggy work and then got busy cleaning the abode.  Once that was done it was time for lunch and some Jass was coming my way.

salad

  • Red leaf lettuce
  • Carrot
  • Cucumber
  • Cranberries
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Cranberry goat cheese (yes please!)

Topped with some pear balsamic and olive oil.  Oh gosh I am so in love with this cranberry goat cheese!  It is by far my fave goat cheese yet.  Sweet and just a bit tart at the same time making a fabbo combination.

Smoothie

Smoothie of a very odd color:

  • 1C Unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1C Carrot juice
  • 1C water
  • Kale
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen mango

Chips, hummus, fruit

Some tortilla chips, hummus, and clemintines in the way back.

Smoothie and salad

What a fantastic lunch!  Boy have I been missing this!

I have to say that I can tell such a change in my body and skin when the fresh produce is lacking from my diet.  When in San Fran I didn’t get nearly as much veggies as I would have liked and my skin started going really blah looking.  I don’t really know how to describe it but it just wasn’t “glowing” and happy looking but grey and dull.  This past week being sick and living off of canned soup for lots of meals, my skin went back to that same blah look and now it’s all broken out.  Jeesh!  Time to get it and my bod back in action!

After lunch I showered, tossed on my amazing bell-bottom jeans and went shopping at Whole Foods.  There’s a joke in there somewhere, I’m sure of it.  I got a few things for Thanksgiving and a few things just because.  They got their shipment of Beajolais-Nouveau in and I scored two bottles.  Since it’s the holiday time, they also have butternut squash puree out!  Located next to the pumpkin. :)

Back home, I got things put away and fed Rocks his dinner.  Then it was back out to the grocery store to finish up shopping for Thanksgiving and other items that we need.  I wanted to get that done now because there’s no way I’m doing my T-day shopping next week.  Nope, not happening.  The only thing I have to run out for is to pick up the turkey breast I ordered (local, organic, happy turkey).

When we got home and I was comfortably in new holiday jammies, it was time to make dinner and it was something we haven’t had in ages.

Nachos

Nachos!!!

Nachos

That makes for an awesome Friday night dinner doesn’t it?  I used my lentil taco recipe but instead of lentils today we had pinto beans.  Put that on top of some FoodShouldTasteGood multigrain chips and topped that with pepperjack and cheddar.  In the oven it went till the cheese was all melty good.

Scott’s side had more cheese-factor which is generally the case around here. ;)

We also had salsa, guac, and “sour cream” aka 2% Fage on the side.

Great game food!  Of course we watched last night’s Pen’s game and munched.  There may or may not have been a few sips of Scott’s beer snuck in here and there. :D

That’s it for me gang!  I’m off to finish the game and get snug, it’s a chilly one today.  Till tomorrow loves!

  1. I totally hear you about skin issues while sick!!!! Mine looks some kind of blah right now. I’m going to have to do something so it won’t look dull with ocassional red patches of irritation. Giant FAIL. 

  2. Glad you’re feeling better! I woke up this morning feeling terrible. Those cookies look sooo chocolatey and amazing, though. And I hear you on the veggies– I always feel and look so much better when I eat lots of spinach and veggies, instead of processed stuff and cereal.
