September 27th, 2009: Catch up

Hi gang!  Not too much action to report from the front lines today.  My body was craving a major sleep fest and it needed sleep more than it needed a run this morning.  I know, but I had to put my long run on the backburner for today.  Instead I slept until 8am.  Rock on!  I got up and after taking care of Rocks, sat down with a glorious cup of coffee.

Coffee

Mmmm mmmm!  I worked on blog stuff and tried my hardest to catch up with you all.  Leave the reader for a few days and it explodes! :p  I got the recap post up and then it was time for breakfast.

Yogurt, fruit, granola

I was seriously craving some fruit, so I had a yogurt mess!  Sliced red delicious, Stoneyfield plain yogurt, and a sprinkle of homemade granola.  With another cup of glorious coffee.  It was a rainy dreary morning here, so even if I was planning on running this AM I would not have been able to.  It was pouring!

Eventually it stopped raining and the sun came out.  I couldn’t sit on my butt any longer and Rocky was a bit antsy with cabin fever, so we headed outside.  A long walk around the ‘hood, close to an hour, and we were back home to find Scott up and waiting for us. :D

No Sunday breakfast today either!  It’s like the HQ got flipped on its head!  Since we had breakfast Friday and I didn’t run this morning, I just did not feel like a big breakfast.  What I did feel like was a more typical OHC lunch and that’s what I went with.

Salad

Salad:

  • Spinach
  • Chopped red chard
  • Red onion
  • Cucumber
  • Tomato
  • Carrot
  • Crispy prosciutto

With a small amount of Bolthouse yogurt ranch dressing.  It was okay but lacked in some punch, I fixed that by sprinkling fresh black pepper and some dried dill all over the salad.  That worked like a charm!

smoothie

Veggie packed smoothie:

  • 1C carrot juice
  • 1C US cranberry juice
  • Splash POM
  • 1C Water
  • Kale
  • Cucumber
  • Parsnip
  • Celery
  • Parsley
  • Frozen banana
  • Frozen mango

On the side was some quick guac, chips, and cantaloupe.

Chips, guac, and cantaloupe

Lunch was fabbo and exactly what I needed to help jumpstart the week and get my system back in the game.

Smoothie, salad, and fruit

After lunch we had to run an errand.  I told you we were flipped upside down today!  World Market was having a furniture sale which ended today and we wanted to take advantage of it.  We got three bookcases and a framed piece of art.  We were there for a long time deciding on which items to get and finally came to the conclusion that the bookcases were the most needed thing.

When we got back, it was dinner time.  Our fridge was loaded down with leftovers and I knew that needed to be dealt with.  Helpful because I didn’t have to cook and that means more time with the hunnies. :D

Soup, veggies, polenta

Leftover seafood chowder and leftover pepperjack polenta.  Also some roasted sugar peas and zucchini.  I actually didn’t eat any polenta, just the veggies and soup.  Why is soup always better as leftovers?  Mmm, mmm fine!

One thing I forgot to mention, last Thursday on our way back to the house with my mom, we made a quick detour.

wedding band Wedding band

So I could pick up my wedding band!  *squee*  It’s all resized and they buffed and cleaned it up.  Because it’s sterling silver it can antique and look aged.  It hasn’t been this shiny pretty since the day I got it.  I am so excited!  Now it fits beautifully and is all purty glowing.   There is Celtic knotwork on our bands.  The center knot is called the “Everlasting Love” knot and then there is more knot work down the sides and going all around the ring.  I love them!

Now I’m kicking it back and relaxing.  Wine will be poured and chocolate will most likely be consumed later.  Hope you all had a fabbo weekend!

  1. What a great weekend! Glad you had a wonderful time with your mom and sounds like a laid back Sunday is just what you needed. No worries, I missed my long run this weekend too! I was fighting some nasty bug, so running 10 miles would not have been the best medicine. :)

    Take care love!
