September 25th-26th, 2009: weekend review

Hi my lovlies!  Did you miss me? *smooches*  I had to unplug it for a few days because it’s been such a whirlwind around here. :D  I’ll do my best to recap it all for you!

Thursday night I hit the bed at 10pm.  I was trashed.  And by trashed, I mean passing out tired, not trashed in the “mom and I just did 6 shots in a row trashed”.  Although admittedly that would make for some great entertainment, no?

Friday morning I got up bright and early and busted out a 3.5er, go me!  And for most of my run it was dark.  I was proud of myself for getting it done in the dark (stay focused now) because I hate running in the dark.  It’s not safe no matter what kind of ‘hood you live in, plus it’s hard to see.  However, sometimes you just have to suck it up and do it.  Staying relaxed is key. ;)  It wasn’t that bad and there were plenty of people up and about in their homes at 6:30am, so I was alright.

Then Rocky and I busted out a walk.  When we got back my mom was up and moving about.  I proclaimed as often as I could that I was starving.  This was to help get Scott moving a little faster.  My mom was taking us out to breakfast and I was ready to gorightnowthankyou.  Because I was hungry!  And breakfast just happens to be one of my very favorite things to do.  I needed something small though to help settle my talking bellah.  I had the other half of my oat protein bar (homemade) and patiently waited for the princess Scott to be ready to leave.

And then we arrived to a packed restaurant.  No worries though because it’s totally worth it!  We only had to wait maybe 10 minutes at that.

coffee

First order of bidness was some coffee!  With cream and sugar.  YUM!

Eggs, sausage, potatoes, and english muffin

I got the traditional with scrambled eggs (hot sauce on top please!), turkey sausage, potatoes, and an English muffin (no butter).  That’s a lot of food!  Ah breakfast time, I love thee!

fruit bowl

I also ordered a fruit bowl on the side because I cannot have breakfast without some sort of fruit action.

That was a lot of sausage which was too much for me, but everything else I kicked because I was a machine.  Everyone else finished and I was still eating.  Hey I’m a slow eater, especially when I’m 1. out to breakfast and 2. enjoying my food.  You’ll just have to sit there and wait on me! :p

After breakfast we went shopping!  We hit up TJ Maxx and looked around there for a while.  I was hoping to get more owl stuff but they didn’t have any more. :(  Booo!  I also looked at jackets to see if I could find a nice long black dress jacket but nothing.  I did get some pumpkin bowls and an amazingly gorg fall soup tureen.  Love it!  It even goes with my china, score!

After ages in the Maxx, my mom wanted to go back over to Garden Ridge because she was buying us a prezzie! A beautiful little trunk chest that now resides in our fancypants front room.  I will show you pics of all my purchases soon.  This post is already gonna be long enough!  It’s so so pretty, I love this little trunk!

cantaloupe

We came home to drop off our purchases and regroup a little bit.  I stuffed my face with some cantaloupe straight from the container.  I didn’t need a meal because breakfast was so large, but needed something.  Fresh fruit it was!

Then we headed over to World Market.  I try and take my mom to places she doesn’t have so she can look around and shop a bit.  I bought food at World Market including a huge bottle of Choloula.  I’m talking 12oz huge!

Then we came home and I made a very quick dinner.

Soup and salad

Side salad with:

  • Red leaf lettuce and spinach
  • Chopped tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion
  • Cranberries

Balsamic dressing on top.

Seafood chowder with lots of veggies and shrimp and scallops.  Mmmm mmm!  Multigrain bread in the middle, I had two slices.

After dinner, was mostly hanging out with my mom since it was her last night.  I had some red wine and a chocolate zucchini muffin.

Delish!  I hit the hay around 11pm and zonked right out.

Saturday was an early day because we had to take her back.

Coffee Coffee to get things started.

I made a huge honkin’ bowl of oats to power me through!

oats

Pumpkin (I found some!) and a nectarine.  Oh so good!  In my new pumpkin bowl!  We’ve had rain pretty much the entire time my mom has been here.  Basically all last week and all this weekend.  Yesterday poor Scott drove us through some serious downpours.  As in, you couldn’t even see the car in front of you kind of rain.  It was crazy and a little scary.  And I could not get over how many people were actually driving without their lights on!  What idiots.

We made it to our destination, a little late though thanks to the rain, and dropped my mom off.  I was dragging so much on the ride up, I told Scott we had to stop somewhere for something.

coffee

I needed me a shot of coffee and some man leg.  Both dark roasts and large please.

Also on the trip I snacked on:Carrots

PB sandwich

Carrots and a PB sandwich on 12 grain bread.  I told Scott that sometimes a PB sandwich is the most perfect thing ever and yesterday was one of those times.  It tasted so freaking good!

And then more rain.

We finally made it home and both of us were so tired and just wanted to hang out.  That’s what we did!  Scott chatted with me while I prepped things for dinner and cleaned the kitchen.

smoothie

Smoothie break!  Because I was missing that like crazy!

  • 1C carrot juice
  • 1C US cranberry juice
  • 1C Blueberry Pom Acai juice
  • Kale
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen blueberries

Awesome and restored the soul.

Last night’s dinner was something we also have been missing for some time.

pizza

PIZZA!!  The past two weeks we had pizza out and that is just not right.  I didn’t realize how much I missed my pizza until I took a bite of it.  It was so good, I couldn’t stand it.  YUM!

pizza

The pizza had:

  • Whole wheat crust
  • Pizza sauce
  • Shredded moz and parm
  • Red onion
  • Shredded zucchini
  • Chopped artichoke
  • Prosciutto
  • Mushrooms (on Scott’s side)

Pizza

I started off with three pieces and went in for another 1/2 slice. :o

After dinner we hung out on the couch and the first pumpkin beer of the season made its way forward.

Pumpkin ale

MMMM Scott and I split that delicious babah.  Then by 10:30 I had to call it a night and hit the hay.

All in all a great weekend!  Thanks for understanding why I was MIA. :D
