September 11th, 2009: Act your age

Hi guys!  Sorry about no post last night, Scott and I headed out to dinner and when we got home I went right to bed. :p  Review will be in another post! ;)

Thursday night dessert was:

Mexican wedding cookies

1.5 Mexican Wedding Cookies from WF.  So good!  I know I’m not a big sweets person but these have just the right amount of sweetness to them that is not overpowering.  I love them!  There was also a glass of red wine but the server forgot to take a picture.  I was sitting on the couch so you can guess who that might have been. ;)

Thankgoodness Fridays are my rest days because dang pounding out the miles on Thursday morning and then hitting a conditioning class in the evening is a pretty intense workout day.  My legs were just a wee bit sore yesterday and no way would have made it through a run if asked.  I slept till just after 7am, Rocky was having none of this sleeping in business at all.

I poured some coffee and made some breakfast.

Coffee and yogurt with granola

Yogurt mess with 2% Fage, sliced banana, and homemade granola.  I really wanted an apple but was saving that for lunch since it was my last one.

After breakfast and once Scott got up for the day, I got busy cleaning the house!  Fridays are the scrubdown days, so the kitchen and all the bathrooms got scrubbed.  And then I vacuumed the whole house.  And started organizing a little bit and getting things cleaned up.

Before I headed up to shower, I sat down at the computer for a second and started playing around with Google calendar again.  I’ve used it before in it’s infancy and didn’t care for it all that much.  Wow but things have changed!  Now I can use it and make a shared calendar with Scott.  I can sync it up with iCal on my laptop which will sync up with my iPhone.  AWESOME!

And yes I realize I can just use G-cal on the iPhone but the iPhone already comes with iCal and it’s not something you can get rid of.  Might as well use it and not have a wasted app on the phone.  I also found that Google has a list of calendars that you can add to yours like sport schedules, holidays and so on.  I quickly added the Pens schedule to my calendar.

October 2nd baby!  WOOT!  There seems to be a lot of back-to-back games this year.  Interesting and I’m curious to see how that affects game play.

Speaking of hockey (Hey I warned you that come September hockey talk would be back. :p ), DirecTV does not get Verses any more!  And I have no idea what I’m gonna do when it’s a Verses night. :o  Apparently Comcast owns Verses and is charging a crazy amount of money for companies to purchase the channel.  DirecTV says it had already been paying over what the channel is worth and now Comcast wants more and DTV says, no flipping way.  So here we are, Verses-less.  Verses had one of the best HD channels.  The games on Verses were so crisp and clear, I loved it!  Now I’m a sad hockey fan.

Time for some lunchy!

Salad

Salad!

  • Mixed greens
  • Chopped tomato
  • Chopped red onion
  • Peas and corn
  • Sliced almonds

Red wine vinegar/mustard/olive oil dressing on top.

  • 1C Carrot juice
  • 1C US cranberry juice
  • 1C water
  • Kale
  • 1 Banana
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Frozen blueberries

Delish!

Cheddar crackers

Crackahs!

Smoothie, salad, crackers, apple

And in the middle, an apple for me and chips for Scott.  I was in such a carby craving fit that I had to pull some crackers out.  The bowl was kicked but because Scott ate some too. :p

Anyway, moving along!  I showered and took Rocky-loves out for a walk.  Holy cow yesterday was so nice I couldn’t stand it.  I tried to get Scott to take a break (he’s working really hard lately with a deadline and some freelance stuff) but he wouldn’t.  My man needs more outside time and I’m working on trying to get him there!

After the walk, I putzed around and started getting hungry again.  This is when the discussion of dinner plans started.  When they started I wanted a little bit more carbs.

Baked chips

Cue a small amount of baked chips.  Mmmm!

We flipped flopped back and forth big time on what to do about dinner.  Restaurant Week is going on and we did want to go out for it.  But I was a little tired and because we are in a time where so much money is being spent on other things, I didn’t really want to spend extra on dinner out.  However, Scott was like, nope we’re going.  We checked over several of the menus listed and decided on The Worthington Inn.

I will tell you right now that I loved it!  And that’s all I’m saying till the review goes up. :D

When we came back home, I seriously crashed out on the bed with Rocky.  I chatted with Scott and got snugs and by 10:30 I was out like a light.  I could have went to bed even earlier but I thought that I should act more my age instead of 85 so I stayed up a bit later. ;)

  1. Amen for rest days! My mind usually says no but my aching muscles ALWAYS win!

Sounds like another wonderful productive Friday. You’ve just given me the push I needed to start my Saturday cleaning. ;)

Take care sweetheart and have a great weekend! :)
    Love ya girl!
