July 26th, 2009: I see food diet

Hi lovies! The fabbo Gina talked about a seafood fest she had at her house and that reminded me that I had crab legs in the freezer that needed used up.  Hello seafood night at the HQ!

Asparagus

There was roasted asparagus. Do you guys get sick of seeing how much asparagus we eat? Because we eat a ton of it! Especially with seafood, it’s my fave combo of protein + veggies.  And if I find a good price I snag some up quick!

Shrimp

Shrimp that I roasted in the oven.  It had grated garlic, buffalo sauce, soy sauce, and olive oil with garlic powder, sea salt, and black pepper.  Takes 3 minutes to cook them in the oven at 400.  Lightening quick!

Crab legs

Crabby crab legs!  That I tossed in a huge roasting pan and let heat up gradually in the oven.

Shrimp, crab legs, asparagus

With homemade cocktail sauce, and some melted butter for dipping goodness.  I cleared all of that and had another section of legs to eat.  MMMMM

July 26th, 2009: Reinvented

Hi gang! Woke up this morning to brutal shoulder and neck pain. OY! It caused me to debate whether I was going to head out and run.  I decided to run because it was a gorgeous day and I didn’t want to miss a Sunday morning jog!  I only 3.5 miles today but I’m cool with that.

Chocolate soymilk

I had a little bit of CS and then headed back out with Rocky for a quick walk around the ‘hood.  Back home, I changed, stretched, and wrote up last night’s dinner post.  Finally it was time for coffee and a small snack!

Coffee, yogurt, and granola

Chocolate granola and yogurt (2% Fage) with some cranberries.  Delish!  I brought my laptop into the TV room and surfed/read blogs while watching some Food TV.  Guy was on making some killer crab cakes!  I putzed around for a bit till my laptop was almost out of juice.  Then I got up to make some Sunday Breakfast!

July 25th, 2009: Sweet chocolatey balls

Hi guys!  Last night was a little strange regarding food here at the HQ.  My lunch, while not gigantic, kept me super full for a very long time. :O  And I was cursing myself for having that piece of bread because I was all bloaty again, bah!  There was a small snack of chips.

Baked salt and vinegar chips

Baked salt and vinegar, eaten while Scott and I finished the new maps of Army of Two. I seriously am considering starting a gaming blog because not many chicks game and I sorta wanna represent.  Plus I could get my swearing fix in and post pictures of my fabbo Marcus Fenix action figure without batting an eye. :D

It wasn’t until 9:30 that I even remotely started to feel hungry and even at that point I wasn’t starving.  Scott had leftover pizza and I decided to just roast up some veggies and call it a day.

Roasted veggies and vegan nuggets

  • Red onion
  • Green pepper
  • Sugar peas

July 25th, 2009: Wrecked

Hi guys!  I woke up this morning just shy of 7am.  I wanted to lay in bed but Rocky was huffing and puffing to get up.  I tried ignoring him and then I heard the thunder.  That got me up!  I wanted to get him out before the rain started.  We just made it too!  Not even a minute back inside and it started pouring.  I worked on my recap of dinn and then finally got some coffee.

Coffee

YUM!  I read blogs for a bit and then Scott got up which was the signal to make some breakfast.  I tried to make blueberry oats twice today with 0 success.  I was so bummed out because I definitely wanted my oats this morning!  First attempt I was chatting with Scott and the soymilk came to a rapid boil.  I didn’t think anything of it and tossed in the oats.  I was still out of bananas at this point so no b-love in the oats this morning.  Well I don’t know if the boiling stage was too high but my soymilk went from creamy to watery grossness.

July 24th, 2009: Last stop

Hi guys!  As we were talking about dinner, Matt the Miller’s Tavern came up again.  They have fabbo salads, are close to us, but the clincher was the awesome bread that comes to your table while you wait!

Carb Train was in full effect! I wanted some of that dangum bread!  Off we went!  We were hoping to sit out on the patio but it was full by the time we got there.  Boooo!  We were seated inside which ended up being a blessing in disguise because we got the same server we had last time we were there.  She’s awesome! And hands down the best server we’ve ever had and that ain’t no jive yo!  And she totally remembered us, which how often can one say that?  Score!

Bread

The carblicious bread arrived! I picked at it a little bit and this time I decided to see what the butter was all about.  I just had a smidge here and there on the bread bites but it was enough.  It was an herb and garlic butter which tasted amazing.  Totally flavorful and super creamy!

July 24th, 2009: Carb train

Hi guys! Whoa sorry about being absent! I was working on this transcription for a friend and I just wanted to get it done.  And I did!  It was an hour and 45 minutes long and that makes for a long transcribing session!  I started last night and missed MT because of it.  I’m not stressing over it though.  I finally broke and called it a day around 7pm.  Time for pizza!  Hell yeah!

Pizza

I did not make my own crust this week but just pulled out a WF crust from the freezer.  Pizza had:

Pizza

  • Moz
  • Shredded carrot and zucchini
  • Red onion
  • Green pepper
  • Banana peppers
  • Artichoke
  • Jalapeno chicken sausage (most of it on Scott’s side)
  • Mushrooms for Scott’s half

Mmmm!

Pizza

I had three pieces and I ate them all! I know and I was totally stuffed afterwards. Doh! Two and a half slices is my limit and I need to remember that!  However I didn’t let it stop me from dessert. ;)

July 23rd, 2009: Busy, busy, busy

Hi gang! Last night Scott and I had the best time! We were invited to a small gathering at Tehku Tea to taste some tea blends and munchies! However that is going to get it’s own dedicated post so that I can tell you all about it. :D  I will show you my eats before and after though!

Before we headed out, I made us some smoothies and a snack.

Smoothie and smoked salmon

Smoked salmon on pumpernickel with sundried tomato and basil goat cheese.  I toasted it up to give it a little bit of a different texture.

Smoothie time!  Let me see if I can remember what all went in here! :p

  • Unsweetened cranberry juice
  • OJ
  • POM
  • Water ( I don’t remember the exact amounts!)
  • Spinach
  • Shredded carrot, zucchini, and parsnip
  • Cucumber
  • Frozen pineapple
  • Mango and some frozen mango
  • Frozen blueberries

YUM!

I had 2 halves of salmon “toast” which is equal to one whole slice.  And some extra smoothie for kicks!  Parsnip is my new favorite smoothie addition.  It’s light and tastes like lemon to me so it makes everything just a little bit brighter and fresh tasting.  Then we were off for the night! Scott and I looked rad and naturally I didn’t get a chance to get a picture of us.  Boo on me!

Feet on the Street: The Running Yogini

The Running Yogini It’s the July issue of Feet on the Street! And this month is showcasing The Running Yogini! Who actually happens to be a friend of mine and we go back some time. Not only does the sister run but she’s also very into yoga, hence her blog name. ;)  Now let’s get chatting!

1. How did you get started running and how long have you been running?

I was a pretty hyper kid so my parents put me in gymnastics to try and work out some of my energy. I was very physical with very little sitting still. Lots of tree climbing, running through the woods, tag, capture the flag, etc. I guess as I got older I kind of stopped with the gymnastics & tree climbing and stuck with the running. I don’t exactly remember when I officially started grabbing the dog and going out on runs, but it was sometime between the ages of 12-14.

July 22nd, 2009: Rain, rain

Hi guys!  I guess no one was into my bullet wound as much as I was. :p  That’s okay, I’m used to being different!

I slept in this morning which ended up being both good and bad.  Nice to sleep in, bad because as I was headed out the door for my run it started pouring rain.  Booo! I haven’t run since Sunday and I’m itching to get out there.  It’s still raining too!  I had some coffee which I didn’t get a picture of but you all know what my coffee looks like by now.

And worked on yesterday’s post.  Then I got Scott up and told him about being grumpy.  At that moment I decided to stop being grumpy about it. It’s raining so I can’t change the situation, so why stress over it? It’s one day and tomorrow is a new day. I’ll live. :D

Oatbran

For breakfast the blueberries made an appearance but in oatbran this time!  I loved it!  Since it seems like ages that I last had oatbran, I gave it another go.

July 21st, 2009: Wounded

Hi guys!  Let me start off the recap with a treat on Monday night.  After SF class I was starving! Sometimes I’m a little munchy, but that evening my belly was growling. :o  So strange!  I decided to finally jump on the banana ice cream train and try it out.

Banana ice cream

It took a little coaxing but the bananas finally started getting creamy and fluffy.  I just had to make sure to hold onto the food processor so it wouldn’t fly away!  I took a small test bite and decided it needed some umph so I added a small spoonful of vanilla almond butter for some extra flavor and also extra staying power for me since I was so hungry.  Both of us loved this stuff!  It was creamy cold and had the exact consistency of a great ice cream.  Basically it’s the bomb and I want to purchase a bunch of bananas just for freezing.  But it does taste exactly like bananas.  I guess I was expecting it to taste like vanilla ice cream with the way everyone was raving about it.  It tastes like banana ice cream.  The amazing part is that it’s just bananas and nothing else.  Frozen bananas to give you that creamy fabbo texture.  A huge hit with us and we will be making it again for sure!
