July 9th, 2009: Back on track

Hi guys! After a few days of eating at odd times and not my usual eats AND not running, it felt amazing to get back to Andrea Normal today!  I’ve been trying to stay semi-normal the last few days and have succeed to a degree.  But today I was able to be totally routine and my body feels so much better because of that!

First I got 9 hours of sleep by being in bed before 10pm and getting up at 7am.  :woohoo:  And boy was I ready for a run this morning! I haven’t run since Sunday and it was starting to eat away at my head. While I realize that Tuesday was an all day hiking fest and yesterday was an all day walk around the zoo, there was no cardio involved.  That’s what I’m addicted to and that’s what makes me feel awesome, getting my HR up and busting a groove!  When I don’t have that I start to feel meh and out of sorts.

Chocolate soymilk

I did 3.5 today and when I got to my front door it started raining.  Thankfully I did not push through to 4 miles or I would have been stuck in the early morning shower.  Rocks was up my butt ready for a walk but he had to chill it since it was raining.  I changed into comfy clothes and poured some coffee.

Coffee

Mmmmmm! I attempted to get caught up on blogs and only got so far. Everyone posts so much when I’m on vacation! :p  Then I had some breakfast because my bellah was empty.

Yogurt with fruit and granola

Simple today plus Scott was still sleeping so I didn’t feel like making oats for one.

  • 2% Fage
  • Frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 a banana sliced
  • Fruit and nut granola

After  a bit the rain stopped and I took Rocks out for his walk.  We did a shorter one today since it was starting to warm up outside.  Came back home, fed my birdies, saw a wee baby bunns, and had a bit more coffee.  By this point Scott graced us with his presence and I started talking lunch strategy. Yeah, he’s a late sleeper when he’s on vacation or just in general really.

I knew for sure a smoothie was in my future because I neeeedded one for my sanity and digestive track.  I went with the standard lunch.

Salad

Salad:

  • Mixed greens
  • Chopped carrot
  • Chopped parsnip
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Raisins
  • Shredded beat

Fig balsamic and olive oil on top.

Smoothie

Smoothie!

  • 1.5C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • .5C POM
  • 1C water
  • Kale
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 carrot
  • Frozen peaches, pineapple, mango, and blueberries

Fabbo!

Smoothie, salad, crackers, and hummus

Crackers for dipping in hummus which I apparently have no closeup of.  Strange.  Perfecto lunch though!  I know I had salads Tuesday and Wednesday but there were super basic salads with not nearly as much “stuff”.  And no smoothie at all yesterday which sort of left me a little cranky. This meal sort of put my body back into balance and I feel much more centered.

Trivia!

I probably should have called this Fun Facts instead of trivia because it seems less like trivia and more like random information.

I did not change my name after we got married but Scott and I can still rock the monogrammed stuffs!  Both of our last names start with the same letter. :D

And to answer Becky’s question about why we waited so long to get married, well to us we didn’t really consider it waiting.  We were together and that’s what was important to us.  If we got married, that’s cool.  And if we didn’t, that’s cool too.  However, we did eventually come to realize the benefits of becoming a legally recognized couple.  If we weren’t married and something happened to either one of us, we would not be considered next of kin.  If something were to happen and one of us had to stay in the hospital for  an extended amount of time, we might not be given information or provided with visitation rights because we were not a legal couple.  This concerned us and we decided that it was in our best interest to get married. So we did!  I realize how unromantic that sounds but that’s our story. :D

Another fun fact! Neither of us have middle names. :D

  1. Cute Trivia :-) Hey when you get a chance, e-mail me your questions for July FOTS or if you want I can just pull from the other FOTS questions. Whatever works for you ;-) Have a good one!!

  2. Sounds like perfect timing on that run! Good thing you were at your house when the clouds opened up. That salad looks gorgeous! I love all the toppings, especially those seeds and raisins :)
