July 4th, 2009: A Tail

Hi gang!  Yesterday didn’t see us doing much of anything.  We played games. :D  And there was a small snack.

Cheese and chips

I wanted some cheese and chips! Great combo, right?  There are jalapeno chips for Scott, baked chips for me, and some sheep’s milk cheese.  I had a few chips and then my tongue started to burn (from the salt) telling me that I’ve had enough. I had a few bites of cheese and was perfectly content.

Rain killed dinner plans last night so I switched things up and brought out some lobster tails!  When the HQ is on vacation and celebrating something, you can expect to see a lot of seafood because it’s our favorite protein source.  And because we don’t have this kind of stuff everyday.

Lobster tail

Huge lobster tails that I got from Sam’s and that are not Maine lobsters.  I have trouble finding Maine tails here and ordering them costs a fortune.

Purple slaw

Purple people eater slaw:

  • Red cabbage
  • Shredded carrot
  • Shredded beet
  • Shredded parsnip

With a grainy mustard, white wine vinegar, and olive oil dressing.

Baked sweet potato

Baked sweet potato with a smidge of butter and cinnamon sugar.

Sweet potato, lobster, slaw

Dinner was most excellent! And I did not eat that entire lobster tail because it was huge. :o  I had about half.

After dinner it was time for some vino.

White wine

A very lovely vino verde.  If you like white wine, try this, it’s slightly bubbly and so refreshing.  Vacation also means lots of wine at the HQ. I’m not apologizing, just informing. :D  While sipping on wine we watched The Original Kings of Comedy which is an absolute favorite here.  Then I hit the hay.

All in all, a very relaxing day!

Just know that even if I haven’t been commenting, I’ve still been reading what you’re up too.  It’s because I’m on vaction that I haven’t commented much or gotten back to emails!  I will soon though. :D
