June 14th, 2009: And so it begins

Hi lovies!  I got up not long after 7am this morning and by the time I was done taking care of Rocks it was going on 7:30.  This made me pause and decide what to do.  Scott and I had a bunch of things to get done today plus I needed to get some blog posts up and this made me doubt if I could squeeze a run in. Add on that all day today we were going to do some SF training today with a few other people and I just wasn’t sure if I could fit everything in.  I did eat 1/2 a peppermint stick Luna while deciding on what to do.  Finally I just poured some coffee resigned to the fact that running today wasn’t going to happen.

Mug of coffee

I checked mail and got my two posts up and finished.  It was 9am by this point and I thought, WTH, I’m going to run.  And the truth is that I couldn’t take sitting in the house any longer.

Chocolate Silk

My mind and body needed that run to help me feel a little more balanced and centered today.  I ran and totally could have pushed through to 3.5 miles but I knew I didn’t have the time for that and settled for a quick 2.5.  I took Rocks out for his walk after my run and once back home headed straight for the shower.  And to wake up my handsome man.

I had another wee splash of coffee when I came downstairs and then I started Sunday breakfast.  Thank goodness for leftovers!  Any time I make waffles or pancakes I always make a ton of them.  The leftovers I freeze and then I can pop one in the toaster oven whenever we need a quick lunch or just feel like breakfast. :D

Whole wheat blueberry pancake

I had WW blueberry pancakes. Whoa sexy man in the tank top!

Fruit salad

And a big honkin’ fruit bowl with:

  • Cantaloupe
  • Pineapple
  • Strawberries (for Scott)
  • Blackberries

Pancakes, sausage, and fruit

And two chicken breakfast sausages on the side and maple syrup to dip my pancakes in.  I had 1.5 of the sausages and 1.5 pancakes and loads of fruit.  A little more than I normally eat but since we would be training all afternoon I knew that I needed to fuel my body.

After lunch we trained and trained and trained some more.  When my bellah started rumbling, I had to tap out and call it quits. Tired and hungry we headed home.  Where I proceeded to snack on these while I decided about dinner.

Corn flax chips

Corn flax chips, yum!  I knew Scott was having leftovers so that left me to figure out eats for.  Since I had not had any veggies yet, salad was prime choice.  Plus it was easy to assemble without messing up the kitchen and dirtying a lot of dishes.

Salad

  • Mixed greens
  • Cucumber
  • Tomato
  • Carrot
  • Sliced almonds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Raisins

Smoked salmon

And smoked salmon!  On pumpernickle with a dill spread (made with yogurt) and spinach.

POM Fizzie And a POM fizzie, POM + cran-rasp seltzer.

Salad and smoked salmon

I topped my salad with a small bit of yogurt Caesar dressing. I had slightly more than half of a piece of the smoked salmon and most of my salad.  And now I must train and train some more.  I’m already in my jammies so I’m hoping not to train for too long and to get some rest. :p I also know there is some red wine and more panettone in my future. :D

Scott and I have an insanely busy week this week which officially started today.  Ugh!  I’m hoping to make it through in one piece and there will definitely be some high points I hope to share! :D  Admittedly I’m already wishing for Friday!
