Wednesday, May 20th, 2009: Just the two of us!

Hi guys!  Sorry for being MIA yesterday but the day flew by and was jam-packed.  Once I got some down time all I wanted to do was hang with my boys. :D

Tuesday evening, I was in bed by 9pm and asleep by 10pm.  Rock on!  I got up early yesterday morning to get things moving.  It was awesome outside yesterday.  The sky was clear, it was warm, and oh so sunny.  Hooray!

Oh so pretty!

Oh so pretty!

And it looks like my peonies are about to bloom any minute now!

Just about there

Just about there

After a few chilly nights with frost (!!) it was nice to wake up to a lovely warm spring morning.  I took care of Rocks and poured myself some fuel.

Then it was time to check in with the office to make sure things were still running smoothly.  I did some work stuff, blog stuff, you know the drill and then headed up to wake Scott up for the day.  Then I made us some breakfast.

Yumyum!

More oatbran with the last of the frozen raspberries!  We are so out of fruits and veggies in this house. I’m going to have to remedy that quickly. Basic oatbran yesterday minus the banana.

  • 1 1/3C vanilla soymilk
  • 1/3C oatbran
  • Pinch brown sugar
  • Pinch cinnamon
  • Frozen raspberries
  • 1TBSP ground flax
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein

Mix-ins were cranberries, coconut, and some vanilla almond butter. Do you all prefer when I post how I made the oatbran or do you not give a flip one way or the other? It’s always the same so I’m not sure if it’s something that’s worth repeating. :p   I had a few sips more of coffee with the oatbran but didn’t finish it and passed that along to Scott.  I need to get back to only having 1 mug of coffee.  My body is there, my mind just needs to catch up.  It’s habit now to pour more coffee and I need to get beyond that.

After breakfast, it was beauty time.  Then I ran Rocky out for a mondo walk.  He was pooped right out.  I did some more work for a bit before I had to get ready for PT.  I didn’t want lunch before therapy but needed something in my bellah because it was empty.  I only wanted a small something to get me through my session.

Peppermint goodness

Peppermint goodness

I pulled out a chocolate peppermint Luna bar to try.  I was hesitant to try it because aside from a Luna cookie, I have not liked Luna products.  They’ve been too chalky and gross.  But this chocolate peppermint bar blew me away.  It was so freaking good!  It tasted just like a Thin Mint cookie but without all the crapola.  I started off with half and then ended up eating the whole thing!  Aside from one wee bite that I saved so Scott could try it.  I could not stop myself, holy schnikey it was so good.

My PT session went great and I was cleared for running!  Starting small, no more than 2 miles and I cannot run the next day.  If the running goes okay, then for right now only every other day.  :woohoo:

Once I got back home, it was time for Scott to run Lorelle out to the airport for her flight.  We helped her get her things together and then I said my goodbyes.  It was 1/2 an hour to the airport, so that meant Scott was gone for a while because he also had to run some errands on his way back.

To prevent myself from gnawing off my arm, I snacked on some raisins while waiting for Scott to get back. I probably had three handfuls just like this. By the time he got home and we sat down to eat some “lunch” it was 4pm. :o  Good thing I ate that whole bar! ;)

Lunch was quick because I wanted to eat and see my husband for a minute and catch up. No downtime with my hubs makes me a cranky A.

Lunchie time

Salads:

  • Mixed greens (the very last of the bin :sob: )
  • Beet and golden beet
  • Parsnip
  • Zucchini
  • Roasted asparagus
  • Goat cheese
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds

Topped with the last (!) of my Newman’s sundried tom dressing. On the side was some fruit, two oranges. And some hummus and kashi crackers.

After lunch I spent some time with my husband and then peeled myself away to make some dinner.

Perfecto

Quesadillas and baked sweet potatoes!  There was some leftover rice from Tuesday’s dinner, I combined that with some pinto beans and salsa.  Put that in a buttered tortilla, added some cheddar and grilled.  They were awesome!  SP had some butter, and cinnamon sugar on it.  In the back is a beer for Scott.  I only had about two sips because I was saving myself for this.

Hello wine!  Yeah it’s a boozy kind of week and quite frankly I am all over it. :D  Except this wine wasn’t so great. It was a $3 bottle of wine and it tasted exactly like that.  Didn’t stop me from having two glasses though.  Snap!  We watched the Pens game that we taped on Monday while lounging on the couch.  They won, woo!  And then I crawled up to bed and passed out.

  1. Your peony looks like it’s going to be beautiful! Someone just recommended Luna bars as a snack alternative — I may have to try that peppermint bar out.
