May 22nd, 2009: Breakfast and lunch: Double meaning

Hi gang!  Let me show you one of my new boyfriends.  I’ve only got one loves but several boyfriends, can you dig it?

Hello darling...

Hello darling…

His name is Oatmeal Stout and we were just introduced last night.  He’s fabbo and my favorite boyfriend at the moment.  I snuggled with him and Scott last night on the couch while watching the end of the Pens game.  Then I floated up to bed on an oatmeal stout cloud.  Mmmm

My plan for today was to sleep however long because I’m still catching up on sleep and am still battling whatever sniffles decided to take up residence. This was both beneficial and a huge mistake all in one!

I got up going on 8am and had a glorious night of sleep.  My throat, while dry, didn’t cause me to hack up my other lung nor did it interrupt my sleep.  Score!  I got Rocky taken care of and then headed upstairs to change into running clothes.  I was so flustered!  It’s been so long since I’ve run that I have forgotten my routine.  I almost put on my running tank while still braless.  Um, yeah that’s not going to work.  So I reached for a sports bra and grabbed the wrong one and had to change that up.

May 21st, 2009: Dinner: Pizza Pizza!

Hi guys!  MT class was great tonight, totally kicked my ass.  Before class, I had a small snack.

crunch

Cereal combo, a bit of kashi blueberry and some maple granola.  After the picture I added the soymilk.

We had to do some sprint work so I’m glad that I didn’t run this morning. :D  What’s funny, is that it was very hot during class this evening and all I kept thinking about was how fabbo a smoothie would taste.  I didn’t make any because that would cut into dinner but I thought about it a lot. :p

After class we quick ran to Big Bird to pick up a few things, one of those things being some salad greens.  YaY!  Dinner tonight was so easy and while it was heating up, I had a small snack.

Mmmm salt

Salt and Vinegar baked chips.  YUM!  Just a few because I just wanted a taste not a meal of them.  Then it was dinner time!  We got all settled in the TV room so we could start the Pens game!

May 21st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch: Back to regular schedule!

Hi lovies!  I hopefully should be back to regular posting barring no more craziness happens.  The past two weeks have just been beyond bizarre for Scott and I.  We’ve just had so much going on, both great and not so great, that we are both very much looking forward to this long weekend.  Weekend festivities have already started on this end, wheee!

I, unfortunately didn’t sleep so well last night.  My throat was very dry all night long and I kept waking up coughing.  My coughing fits caused me to have to keep blowing my nose and a nasty cycle ensued.  Yuck.  I was up at 7:30 this morning and just laid in bed for a bit because I could.  :D  I got up and took care of Rocks.  It was another beautius morning.  I poured some coffee and headed to the office.

I’m trying something new lately with my coffee, using half&half + cane sugar.  I really want to move away from creamer since it has so much crap in it.  I justified my usage of it because I only had 1 cup of coffee a day, so whatever.  Then my coffee usage went up to two mugs which thus increased my creamer amount.  I don’t want this and so now I’m looking for alternatives.  I’ve tried Silk creamer but find it pretty nasty.  I need something with a bit thicker consistency.  It’s a work in progress for right now while I figure out what works and what doesn’t.

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009: Just the two of us!

Hi guys!  Sorry for being MIA yesterday but the day flew by and was jam-packed.  Once I got some down time all I wanted to do was hang with my boys. :D

Tuesday evening, I was in bed by 9pm and asleep by 10pm.  Rock on!  I got up early yesterday morning to get things moving.  It was awesome outside yesterday.  The sky was clear, it was warm, and oh so sunny.  Hooray!

Oh so pretty!

Oh so pretty!

And it looks like my peonies are about to bloom any minute now!

Just about there

Just about there

After a few chilly nights with frost (!!) it was nice to wake up to a lovely warm spring morning.  I took care of Rocks and poured myself some fuel.

A+

A+

Then it was time to check in with the office to make sure things were still running smoothly.  I did some work stuff, blog stuff, you know the drill and then headed up to wake Scott up for the day.  Then I made us some breakfast.

Review: Sam Adams Imperial Series Imperial Stout

Sam Adams Imperial Stout

Sam Adams Imperial Stout

I told you that there would be a lot of Sam Adam’s beer popping up on OHC because we just started trying it at the HQ.  You all know about my gigantic love for dark, dark beers.  And also about my complete glee when I’m able to drink a stout.  Thankfully Scott shares my love, thus allowing us to participate in threeways at the HQ as often as possible.

While at Whole Foods not long ago, I was rushing back to the supplement section to pick up some things before heading to the checkout.  You have to pass the beer and wine section first before you get to the supplement section.  I was flying by, and as if by magic I spied a new beer in the cooler case.

*screeeeeech*  If my tennis shoes could make a noise as I came to an abrupt halt (thankfully not resulting in any grocery store style fender-benders) it would have been that.  I stared at the beer as the bright florescent lights highlighted the important words.

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009:

Hi guys!  I was not in bed by 10:30 last night, I’m telling you now.  But! It was close, 10:45, so that’s not bad, right?  I would have loved sooner but we got back from class a little late and I wanted a bit more down time with Scott before rushing off to dreamtown.  I was hungry last night when we got home so I busted out some babaganoush and crackers.

Snacky-poo

I have no idea how that wine got in the picture.  I set everything up and after the picture was taken, there he was all ready to be consumed.  I couldn’t turn him away, that would be rude.  I sipped my wine, had a few crackers + dip and then hit the hay where I promptly passed out till 7am.

I had to get up early this morning because I just had stuff to do.  I got Rocky taken care of and had some coffee.

Tuesday Tip: Don’t put all of your eggs in one basket

Check before adding

Check before adding

Ever since I started living on my own, food shows were the number 1 thing I watched.  And one of the tips that always got brought up no matter what show you were watching, was to crack the egg into a separate bowl before adding it to the mix.  This was to ensure that you didn’t add a rotten egg to the entire mix thus ruining whatever you were attempting to make.

Pfffttt!  Was my response to that.  One of my major goals that I try to achieve every time I cook in my kitchen is to minimize the number of things used.  The more you use, the more you have to clean.  I don’t mind spending hours cooking, but I have no desire to spend hours cleaning up.  The thought of bringing out another bowl just to check an egg was ridiculous to me.  I’m talking Rachael Ray garbage bowl ridiculous is how I viewed this tip.  I had never come across a rotten egg, and wouldn’t you know you had a rotten egg on your hands?  I mean it would stink as most rotten things do, right?

Monday, May 18th, 2009: Need rest stat!

My lack of rest, stress, and cra-zah schedule has finally caught up to me in the way of a sore throat and slightly stuffy nose.  Meh.  I need to be in bed by 10:30 tonight!  I would say sooner but we’ve got SF class this evening so I’m not sure I could swing being in bed by 10pm.  I’m telling you so you can tell me! Bed by 10:30.

Okay, last night we watched The Princess Bride as Lorelle had not seen it before.  While watching the movie we had:

Wine

Some wine, two glasses.  Way too big glasses!  Scott was in charge of pouring and was a tad heavy handed.  We also split:

Sweet goodness

Sweet goodness

A cappuccino macaroon.  YUM!  The center filling was a bit sweet so I sort of nibbled the outer edges.  That wasn’t quite enough for me and I went back in for some chocolate chips.

Feet on the Street: Meghann

Graduate Meghann

Graduate Meghann

Feet on the Street feature for May, is Meghann of The Inner Workings of a College Graduate.  Meghann’s blog is very popular among the foodies and it wasn’t long until I had to pop over and see what was going on! She’s gearing up for her first marathon at the end of this month, wow!

1.  How long have you been running and what got you out the door to take that first run?

I started running in January of 2008. I was lazy and depressed about a post-college weight gain. I was ready to make a change and decided running would be the best place to start. My first runs were very slow with lots of walking breaks, but with each run I started going farther for longer. My addiction became evident as I actually began to look forward to each run. I started running to lose weight and I continue to run to keep my sanity. :)

Sunday, May 18th, 2009: Rest Day

Hi guys!  I went to bed super late last night because I stayed up for a bit talking with Scott and Lorelle about their evening and the conference.  I had two glasses of wine while chatting.  And some frozen grapes!

Thank goodness I take pictures, I totally forgot about the grapes. :p

Then by 1am (yikes!) I was headed up to bed.  Unfortunately I didn’t get a ton of sleeping-in time and was back up out of bed by 7:30am.  Coffee was much needed.

It was great coffee this morning!  Yum!  I had some of that while looking at some blogs.  Then I moved into the living room to work on articles and recipes.  I started getting a little hungry and had some cereal.

Crunch

Kashi oat flakes and blueberry clusters.  After the picture was taken, I added some vanilla soymilk to the mix.  I watched some Food TV while eating breakfast.  It was nice to see some cooking shows!  I miss them.  Even though I pick on them so much, I do miss watching Food TV.  After a bit I headed upstairs to wake up Scott and to get myself dressed for the day.
