May 30th, 2009: Solid!

Last evening was pretty uneventful at the HQ.  There was some Lego Batman where I cursed myself for ending a session too early thus not getting all the goods for that section.  Blast!  There was some ‘loupe involved.

Scott got a hair cut (by moi) and then surprised me with some news.

Apparently he’s hoping that in a few weeks he’ll be able to try out as an extra for Life on Mars.  I had no idea he harbored such thoughts! I also can’t stop laughing at his chops. Do any of you watch that show? I have not but of the few scenes I’ve seen, I’m very drawn to it!

Then there was much debate about 1970s hair styles, were they good or bad?  Discuss.

We also debated about what to have for dinner.  Finally I decided on shrimp and scallops.

This time with a bit of a twist, I tried to make it super spicy and I think I succeeded.  I cut down the butter, added in jalapeno, lots of red pepper flakes, spicy mustard, and horseradish.  There may or may not have been some cayenne pepper in there too!

Pumpernickle and multigrain

Some toasty bread for dipping, multigrain and pumpernickle.

This was spicy too

And roasted asparagus.  Mmmm!  I didn’t eat all of my asparagus, had 6 shrimp and 2.5 scallops, and 1/2 a pumpernickle slice.  So tasty!

After kitchen duty, we moved it to the couch to start the Pens game.  Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs!  Against flipping Detroit.  Oh I dislike Detroit.  And I also can’t stand Pierre McGuire (NBC guy), have I mentioned this before?  Such a dinkus.  While watching the very horrible game, there was this.

Oatmeal stout to the rescue!  So fabulous!

And more horrible hockey brought on this:

Dark chocolate chips and a dark chocolate stout.  I only had a few chips (6?) and a few sips of stout.  I was beer’d out, sharing one was plenty.  I also wasn’t in the mood for chocolate, I realized I was just looking for something to do and put a stop to that quickly.

After the terrible game where my beloved Pens lost, I crashed it in bed.  Hopefully they’ll do better tonight!

P.S. Who’s bright idea was it to put Game 1 and 2 of the finals back-to-back? Not a good idea. I’m telling you, you’re going to have tired boys which leads to cranky boys which leads fighting boys.  I’m just saying.

  1. UK version or US version? The UK version is better but the US version is pretty good. Although it’s been cancelled and I think the UK one is done as well.

    • Heather, you just broke my heart! It was cancelled?! :( Horrible news! It was the US version, from the parts I saw it didn’t seem to bad. I’m all bummed now.

  2. Heather says:

Yup. The US version was very good but the UK version was better. If that makes sense.

ABC always cancels the good shows. *rolleyes*
