May 25th, 2009: Couch potato

Hi guys!  Yesterday I wanted nothing more than to just chill out with my huns and that’s exactly what I did!  I was up before he was, so I wrote my recap of Sunday dinner and then headed into the TV room. I had some coffee while flipping through the channels.

Coffee good, toast icky

I also had a small piece of 9 grain bread toasted with a bit of almond butter.  I love this bread but not as toast, ew.  Nothing was on TV and I was so bummed out that TNT was not doing a Law&Order marathon but instead doing an ER marathon.  What is up with that TNT?!  Long weekends were made for Law&Order, not silly medical dramas that George Clooney won’t even acknowledge he was on.  I’m just saying.

So I watched Shat.  What?  His show was on, there was a marathon of his Shatner Raw show but I don’t remember the channel.  I saw him chat with Nemoy and Drew Carey.  They actually weren’t bad shows!  They did seem short though as the show is only 1/2 an hour long.  And then I watched some Frasier which makes my heart squee because I love that show so much.  Then I kicked it with the girls for a bit because We (dumbest name for a channel ever) was having a Golden Girls Marathon.

Frasier and Golden Girls make me laugh out loud and it’s not often that happens.  I’m pretty picky when it comes to my entertainment and what I’ll actually label as something that I like.  I thought back and I don’t remember what the most recent live action comedy show was that made me laugh out loud.  Family Guy and King of the Hill crack me up, but those are cartoons.  Scott and I don’t even watch any 1/2 comedy shows because there is nothing good on.  I used to watch Friends back when it was good, and that would be the first few years.  And Seinfeld was great.  But after that?  I’m drawing a blank.  News Radio will always be tops in my heart. :D

After Scott got up, I decided to make us a quick breakfast.

Sunday style

Blueberry pancakes and chicken sausage.  I dipped my pancakes in maple syrup.  I started with a pancake and a half, then ate the other half.  They were so yummy and I was still feeling a bit empty.  After breakfast, we took Rocks out in the backyard for a bit to run around and get some exercise.  Back inside, we sat down to finally finish off Lost.

Fizzie fun

And sipped on some fizzies.

  • POM
  • Unsweetened cranberry juice
  • Cran-raspberry seltzer
  • Frozen raspberries
  • Frozen pineapple

***SPOILERS***

Any one else think that Jacob went out like a punk?  Jeeze the dude’s been living for how long only to get stabbed twice by Ben?  He couldn’t have seen that coming?  And he can die that easily?  Really?!  What a waste of energy.  And Juliette?  Wha?!  If I was able to move, you bet your ass I would have tried to climb back out.  The bomb didn’t blow up, then eff it!  I’m outta here.  And how much do I want to punch Miles in the throat?  What a douchebag he is to Hurley.  Jack needs to get over himself. And don’t you love how all the guys have to wear their overhall uniforms but all the girls have to wear “normal” clothes that show off their boobs and butts?  That’s just peachy ABC.  /mini-rant

After Lost, since we wouldn’t be grilling for a while, I made us a quick snack because I was a little empty and my body needed some veggies.

Snack of champions

Snack of champions

Quickie salads and some chips because it’s a holiday! :p  My salad had:

  • Mixed greens
  • Sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Cranberries
  • Raisins
  • Blueberry granola

Topped with balsamic and olive oil.  The chips were onion and baked salt and vinegar.  I stuck with the S&V.  Real “fried” chips seem so heavy to me anymore and just weigh me down.  I can have like 3 and that’s about my limit.   After our mini snack, we played some Lego Batman.  Goodness I love this game!  If you like games where you have to find hidden treasures and need to figure out puzzles, this is the perfect game for that.  We played for a while and eventually both of us started getting hungry.  It was time to grill!  And we were having fajitas!

I had some flank steak hanging out with a dry rub all day.  I roasted some red onion and green peppers in the oven.  And also had some shredded carrot and zucchini ready for some extra veg.  On the side were limas, green beans, and corn that I heated up in a little bit of BBQ sauce.  And there were also deviled eggs!

I didn’t eat mine in a tortilla.  I just cut off two small pieces of steak and had that with the veggies.  It was fabbo!  The shredded carrot and zucchini provided a nice contrast and texture change since they weren’t cooked.  The cool paired with the warm turned out really well.  The BBQ veggies I was lukewarm on so I didn’t eat all of those and I only had 1 egg.

After dinner it was more chilling on the couch.  We watched some other shows and Scott snagged some Cabin Fever.

I keep wanting to say Log Cabin...

I had a few sips here and there, mmmm beer!  And there was dessert!

Dessert!

Dessert!

A coconut Parisian maccaroon.  I had a few bites, it was really mouth puckering sweet.  Around 11ish I headed off to sleepytown.  I had the best weekend with my love.  It’s not often we get to just hang out and do nothing.  We always have something going on which can sort of feel like we don’t have any down time.  This weekend was a nice unplug and recharge kind of time.

  1. I love your Lost rant :) Jacob’s not dead. That’s just my guess. Or maybe he is, and his friend is taking over? And I was noticing the same thing as you – the men have been all covered up this season, and I have seen way too much of Juliette.

You have to admit though, that seen with Sawyer and Juliette holding on to one another was heart wrenching.

  2. Heather says:

Ha I think you’re wrong – George acknowledges – he even went back for an episode in it’s last season this year. ;)

  3. Dude i feel the same way about will and grace, all the good sitcoms are long gone! haha and I love your compartment plate- those defined my childhood :D I don’t use them, but the food still can’t touch though!
