May 1st, 2009: Breakfast and lunch

Happy May!  Goodness this year is flying by already isn’t it?  I tried sleeping in this morning but Rocky was having none of it, so up at 8am it was.  I got him taken care of and then poured myself some coffee.

I was starving!  My stomach was going to town grumbling this morning.  I was waiting though until Scott got up before making some breakfast.  I was quite surprised, I figured with eating as late as we did last night my stomach wouldn’t want any food.  Wrong!  It was ravenous.  The coffee held it over for a bit but once Scott was up I ran to the kitchen to make some breakfast.  Scott said my stomach was going to town growling during my sleep last night as well. :o  Oh my!

Oatbran!  I was starving and this was all I wanted.  Today is a very blue day.  Standard oats with a bigger scoop of protein powder and with the addition of blueberries and raspberries.  Mix-ins were blueberry granola and some cashew butter. That’s a second cup of coffee that I tried with some CS, but I didn’t care for it.  The CS didn’t make it creamy or sweet enough for me.

After breakfast I did some office things and then got busy cleaning the house.  And trying very hard to calm my nerves about tomorrow’s race.  My stomach is all a flutter and in knots. Crazy!  I wasn’t this nervous about my first 5K and didn’t even get stressed about it till I was actually at the race.  This is a whole different beast.

After cleaning, I made some lunch.  It was easy and quick.  We desperately need to go to the grocery store as I’m out of fresh fruit and veggies.

I heated up an Amy’s frozen enchilada meal and I added a few extra black beans to the mix.  I also made a smoothie!

It’s also bluetastic.

  • 1/2 C of blueberry POM
  • 1.5C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • Big handful of spinach (it needed used up and I’m out of kale)
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen blueberries

I’ve discovered that raspberries, while tasty, have seeds that do not want to breakdown and blend (blackberries as well) so I omitted them today.  The result was a beautifully colored smoothie that was silky smooth and creamy.  My favorite so far!  I didn’t eat all of my lunch because um, anixety.  I did drink all of my smoothie and a bit more.

Race nerves!

“How are you feeling about tomorrow?”

“Nervous. I’m scared I can’t do it.”

“You can do it. You’ve run 10miles and you said you could keep going after that. Plus if you have to take walk breaks or slow down that’s okay because you’re still doing it.”

“Yeah. You’re right.”

And so he is. I’m still nervous though! :p  My plan is to be IN bed by 9pm and ASLEEP by 10pm.  No later than 10:30 because I have to get up at the asscrack of dawn tomorrow to get ready for this race.  YIKES!

I can do this!  I can do this!

Scott will be (maybe? possibly?) twittering tomorrow as he’s waiting around for me.  You can follow him here if you are so inclined. :D  Now I’m off to walk Rocks and head to the grocery store.  Later friends!

  1. Heather says:

You’ll be fine! You’ve trained. Trust the training. :) You’re prepped. Jitters are understandable.

  2. As you know – I’ve been feeling sick today too and I think it’s ALL JITTERs. You will be fine, girl! Scott is totally right! I can’t wait to read about your results!!!
