May 31st, 2009: Graceful

Hi guys!  I was up at 7am this morning ready to start my day of chores.  I so desperately wanted to run this morning but my leg is still feeling a bit “off” and I figured that resting it would be the wiser choice.  It made me Le Grumpy.  And hello weather change, it was frickin’ cold this morning.  Goodness!  I poured some coffee and headed into the office.

Yum

Yum

I’m glad you all got a kick out of my traveling drawers story.  That’s probably going to be something we’ll remember for quite some time. :p  I putzed around and felt sorry for myself because I wasn’t running.  Then my tum started growling and demanding food.  There was no way I was going to be able to walk Rocky on an empty stomach so I made a small sumptin’.

Small start

Small start

Wee spoon of 2% Fage and some fruit and nut granola.  Then we were out the door!  I wore my HRM this time to get an idea of how long the walk takes us and how much cals burned I’m looking at.  Not shabby for a walk.

May 30th, 2009: Solid!

Last evening was pretty uneventful at the HQ.  There was some Lego Batman where I cursed myself for ending a session too early thus not getting all the goods for that section.  Blast!  There was some ‘loupe involved.

Scott got a hair cut (by moi) and then surprised me with some news.

Heeyyy there lady

Heeyyy there lady

Apparently he’s hoping that in a few weeks he’ll be able to try out as an extra for Life on Mars.  I had no idea he harbored such thoughts! I also can’t stop laughing at his chops. Do any of you watch that show? I have not but of the few scenes I’ve seen, I’m very drawn to it!

Then there was much debate about 1970s hair styles, were they good or bad?  Discuss.

We also debated about what to have for dinner.  Finally I decided on shrimp and scallops.

May 30th, 2009: Tales from the traveling undies

Hi guys! Can we discuss my undies for a second?  I have a story about them which is hilarious and totally embarrassing at the same time.  First some background!  About two months ago Scott and I were in the car on our way to a martial arts class.  He was wrapping his hands with hand wraps (what boxers wear) when I noticed something sticking to the bottom of his wrap.  Yup, a black pair of my undies.  Whoops!  I pulled it off and stashed it under the blanket that covers the backseat.  The reason the two even met is because I wash wraps and delicates in a mesh laundry bag.  He pulled his wraps out not thinking anything about it, but they had a friend.  Good thing we caught it before we were in class!  Oh how we laughed.

Whew crisis averted!  Somehow the undies end up in the trunk and I think it’s from rolling the blanket up and shoving it in the trunk when we had company over.  I think but I’m not positive.  I completely forgot all about them!

Good luck Girls!!!

Today is one busy weekend for races!  Good luck to several of my favorite ladies as they race this weekend!

Heather and Sarah are busting their hineys at their first halfs this morning!  They are both doing one in Brooklyn today.  I’ve chatted with both of these ladies during their training via email and I know that they are totally going to knock this out of the park.

My sister Bobbi and Meghann are both running marathons tomorrow!  They are in San Deigo chatting it up and gearing up for the race.  Both Bobbi and Meghann have been featured on Feet on the Street and if you have not read those articles yet, please do!  This is Meghann’s first half so please show her much support!

Good luck this weekend ladies!

May 29th, 2009: Kitchen Sink Pasta

Hi guys!  Listen my day has been so boring you don’t even want to know about it.  I swear!  Let’s just move to eats!  Around 3pm my body decided it was starving.  This was not an “tank is empty” kind of feeling but a total, “Feed me now or you’ll be sorry!” kind of feeling.  Apparently my fabbo lunch wasn’t so fabbo after all.  We are out of fruit and I already had yogurt for breakfast.  What to do?  I didn’t want a bar so I moved to an emergency plan.

Empty

Empty

A slice of oatnut bread toasted and topped with vanilla almond butter with a side of CS to wash it down.  It was tasty but quite frankly I would have prefered fruit or yogurt.  This just felt like empty food.

And it didn’t work!  I gave myself a good long time for my brain and stomach to get back in the groove, didn’t happen.  I stayed starving. I guess it really was empty food.  This meant I had to move on to making dinner.

May 29th, 2009: Shred It!

In an effort to make my post titles shorter, I’m only adding the date + title.  I had the date + description (breakfast, lunch, dinner) to help me out so if I needed to look back on something I knew exactly when it happened. Then it was date + description + clever title which equaled a crazy long url.  Too much!  So I’m trying to shorten things up.   I’m at the point where if it’s the first post of the day I can recognize that pretty much means breakfast and lunch.  I still want the date as reference for me because while I’m sharing this all with you, it still is a journey for me and I like being able to see when things occurred. :D Coolio?

Last night Scott and I watched a really bad episode of 24.  I’ve been pretty pleased with 24 so far this season (it is what it is and I realize that, so I don’t have much gripe with the show. I poke fun occasionally but no biggie) but that episode we watched was boring and horrible.  Bleh!  Sipping on this:

May 28th, 2009: Pizza Thursday!

Hi guys!  I did indeed have my smoothie later as I felt a bit empty.

Blue Beastie

Blue Beastie

  • 1C vanilla soymilk
  • 1C unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 1C water
  • Kale
  • Frozen peaches
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen blueberries

It was a fabbo blue beastie.  Then right before MT class, I had a small snack.

Fuel

Fuel

Yogurt and granola.  Very small, like a spoonful of yogurt and a bit of granola.  I didn’t need anything too substantial, just a little something for some extra energy.

It’s been so hot/humid here lately and my hair isn’t long enough for a straightup pony-tail.  But I need to do something to get it off my neck and out of my face when I work out.

Can you see Rocky?

Can you see Rocky?

That means I’m rockin’ the Livy style pig-tails.  So what I’m in my 30s?  This ‘do never goes out of style and it keeps the hairs outta my face when I’m getting my sweat on.  Woo!  That’s the best picture, all the others made me look like I had some weird gigantic man-neck happenin’.

May 28th, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch: Cooties!

Hi guys!  Last night after SF class, I came home and made myself a wee snack.

Seltzer kicking it in the back

Seltzer kicking it in the back

Frozen grapes and two small slices of sheep’s milk cheese.  So tasty!  Naturally I did not get to bed early because I wasn’t tired.  Figures.  It was after 11pm when I hit the hay because I was enjoying some snugs and King of the Hill and then Family Guy.  Scott and I are a little disturbed by the fact that on King of the Hill, we understand Boomhauer a lot better now.  Is this because of years of watching King of the Hill?  I hope so because some of the other alternative answers aren’t as appealing.

One of the KoH episodes that we watched last night, Peggy and Bobby were playing Don’t Spill the Beans!  Holy crap guys, I totally had this game.  I have never ever come across another person who has even heard of this game let alone played it.  I was in heaven. :D  This is the version I had as a kid, not the new version with the weird cracked-out looking kettle type of thing.  In my search for a Don’t Spill The Beans reference, I came across Don’t Break the Ice, which I also had and no one else did.  I guess everyone else had games like Cooties. While I was busy learning about about strategy, patience, and balance in life, everyone else was catching Cooties.  That pretty much sums up my high school career as well now that I reflect on it.

May 27th, 2009: Dinner: Seeds galore!

Hi gang!  Tonight’s dinner was cool and refreshing.  The only “warm” part of it was the veggies!

Easy and tasty

Easy and tasty

Basic frozen broccoli and carrots that I quick hit with some hot water to take the chill off.  Then in a pot I heated up a small amount of olive oil and quick sauteed some red pepper flakes.  Added in the veggies, some grated garlic, S&P, and some Italian seasoning and let it cook for about two minutes.  Then I tossed in some grated parm and had a simple and quick side dish.

Easy and light

Also had some tuna salad which was super simple as well.  Tuna, shredded carrot, almost a TBSP of olive oil mayo, spicy mustard, and horseradish.  The seasonings were S&P and curry powder.  A few sunflower and pumpkin seeds for extra crunch and texture.

May 27th, 2009: Breakfast and Lunch: Changes in routine

Hi guys!  Last night Scott and I kicked it on the couch watching game 4 of the Pens playoff series.  While watching incredible hockey I snacked on some frozen grapes.

Frozen fruit goodness

Frozen fruit goodness

One thing I love about summer is the ability to have frozen grapes again.  Mmm mmm!  The Pens spanked Carolina and sent them packing because the Pens swept the series in four.  I felt bad for Carolina because the Pens just made them look like amateurs.  Especially when Carolina’s goalie, Cam Ward, knocked the puck into his own net.  Whoops!  Needing to finish the game caused me to be up till 11pm.  Yikes!  Too late, this girl needs to start getting her butt to bed for sleep a lot earlier.

I was dragging this morning when I woke up.  I got up a little bit after 7am which was just a tad behind schedule but I rolled with it.  I got Rocky taken care of and it was so flipping humid outside.  Ugh but I changed into my running clothes and was out the door.  I’m still on limited miles but am supposed to run at least 4 times a week and doing therapy exercises at home 4 times a week.  Because I’ve been off running, I was actually dragging a bit to get out the door but wow am I ever so glad that I got my junk moving.  It was hot and gross outside and I forgot my WonderWoman wrist bands but who cares!  I was running and it was fantastic.
