April 3rd, 2009: Dinner (Tribute to Daddy R)

Hi guys!  Okay the grocery store was a little more crowded and crazy than I would have liked today.  Most of my time is spent in the produce section.  All the other aisles I can just breeze through like nothing.  Is that the same for you?  Finally we made it home and I was starving!  I munched on some raisins while putting groceries away.

Dear Raisins, I have missed you immensley.  Love, me. I was very low on raisins and didn’t want to risk eating them until I had backup. :p  I bought some today (2 cans!) and so now my world is right.

My dad’s birthday was earlier this week and for dinner I always try to make something in honor and rememberence of him.  Since we’re Poles, that means busting out some kielbasa and other accompanyments.  Today there was a quick and dirty stovetop beans dish, sauerkraut, and fries!  Scott had a huge kielbasa sandwich with lots of sauerkraut and mustard.  I had some roasted zucchini with my sauerkraut and a small piece of kielbasa.  The bean dish had:

  • Black beans
  • Limas
  • Corn
  • Red onion
  • Jalapeno

With a beer and BBQ sauce base.  Sooooo very yummy!  It looks like a lot of food and it is!  I didn’t eat all of that though. :D  There was a good bit of my meal left, I filled up pretty quickly.  And that’s okay because there is some dark chocolate and dark chocolate stout in my future.

Tonight’s plan involves watching Jim Gaffigan’s newest special and snuggling with my boys.  See you tomorrow!

  1. I love that you do a meal in honor of your dad. *hugs* What an awesome idea! Its a shame I’ve never learned to cook anything polish. My polish gma NEVER cooks and I don’t think she really ever has LOL! So the tradition was never passed on… I do love kielbasa though!!
