Saturday, March 14th, 2009 (Pi Day!)

Hi guys!  Full day post today because it’s been one of those kinds of days.  And I mean that not in a bad way, more just a long and tiring day.

I got up this morning around 7:30am and very much wanted to keep sleeping.  I still felt exhausted.  I took care of Rocks and then had some coffee.

1/2 & 1/2 mixed with some Silk creamer, and a pinch of sugar added.  And then I heated up the coffee in the microwave because the 1/2 & 1/2 made it too cold. :twitch:  I sat down and did some bloggy stuff and then I started on last night’s recap.  That seriously took me all morning.  About 10:20 or so, I got up to make breakfast.  I told Scott how tired I was and he said the same thing. ha!  We decided that going to MT wasn’t happening today, not with how tired we were.  We had errands that needed tending to, so we decided to focus on that instead.  But first breakfast!

Hello oatbran, I think I might love you more than oats.  But please don’t tell oats because we’ve got some history and I don’t think they would understand. Let’s just keep this between us.  Thx!

I used a mashed banana today in the oatbran like I do with regular oats to see what would happen.

  • 1/3C oatbran
  • 1 1/4 C of vanilla soymilk
  • Pinch salt and cinnamon
  • 1 TBSP of ground flax
  • Scoop vanilla whey powder

Mix-ins super simple, cranberries and a huge scoop of vanilla almond butter.  I can’t get enough of this stuff!  It’s so freaking good.

I had some juice on the side because I felt like I needed something light and refreshing.  After breakfast, we headed out to complete all our food errands for the day.

dorks

dorks

This is us on our way out the door to run errands.  I demanded we take a pic so we could show off how dorky we are with our matching zip up sweatshirts.  Apparently we’ve become one of those couples.  You know the ones in their matching track suits or velour “workout” outfits.  Our sweatshirts aren’t exact matches, mine is actually a hoodie (with skulls and crosses on it but that’s neither hear nor there).  I felt the overwhelming need to point this out.  This picture is of us laughing at something dumb Scott just said.  We have others where we’re not laughing but they all look like I’ve grown this enormous snaggle tooth so naturally I can’t share those with you at this time.

First stop was North Market because we had to pick up Rocky’s chicken from the butcher.  While there we walked around a bit (and I mean a bit because it was crowded and a little cra-zah today) and stopped at a bread place.  I ordered a salad for lunch later and also got some other bready items.  Then we stopped by the Thai restaurant for some sushi (Wait, wha? Yup, you read that right) for Scott.  Next to Akai Hana, they make the best spicy tuna rolls he says.  Then it was over to the butcher to pick up our order.

After North Market, it was on to Sam’s to get some items of necessity.  Mostly bulk items and some veggies that are a bit cheaper there and last longer than stuff I get from the grocery store.  I was starting to get hungry before we hit Sam’s.  While at Sam’s I became flatout hungry.  However, that wasn’t our last stop.

Last stop was Meijer!  For veggies, juice, soymilk, and creamer (!!).  By this point I was starving and getting very tired/worn out.  We made it home and after putting away the perishables, I demanded some food in my bellah.

My salad was just a basic greens salad that I got with croutons and blue cheese as toppers.  At home I added some:

  • Cranberries
  • Chopped carrot
  • Chopped cucumber
  • Walnuts

And there is a small roll on the side.  The salad I dressed with a bit of their house vinaigrette which was a bit more on the oily side and not so much with the vinegar.  The croutons, while tasty, were very oily/greasy, so I only ate a few of those.  Which is okay because I had 1/4 of the roll and I didn’t need to ingest a whole bunch of redundant carbs.  This blue cheese was different and had a bit of almost dill taste to it.  I liked it but not as much as the cheese from last night.  However, I did buy some blue at Meijer today!

I also had one of Scott’s sushi rolls! :thud:  I’ve been picking at the rice on the outside because it’s yummy.  Today in my haste to stuff my face, I took a bite of rice and got some innards with it and was not offended.  What’s this?  So I told him about it and he said I should have a roll.  So I did and it was good!  I know, hold onto your seats!  However, at this stage it’s not something I could sit down and plow through.  I might have been able to have another but that would be my limit.  I didn’t have a chance to look over their menu (people hogging them at the bar) but next time I will to see if there’s a veggie roll or something I could try. :D

Craziness with all my new food trying this weekend!  After lunch we finished putting the rest of the groceries away and then we took Rocky for a walk.  After we came back, he got fed and I changed into my jammies.  Saturday night and I’m in my jammies by 5pm.  I am so bad ass!  We watched some TVs and then it was time for dinner.  Since I was pooped, tonight was leftovers!

I heated up the leftover pizza and had that.  Scott had leftovers as well and also his leftovers from last night.  I washed my pizza down with a POM fizzie.  Now I’m off to watch a movie and then hit the sack. It’s bedtime early for me tonight, I’ve got a 6-miler to get done tomorrow morning. :)
